The reset button will not remain depressed after it's been pushed. Instead, you should hear and feel a click when pressed - it can help to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil. The steps are shown in our video guide below:
If you've been unable to reset the cleaner head after pressing the reset button as shown, or if you're worried the reset button isn't working correctly, please get in touch as we should be able to help you further.

If the button could not be depressed, it was most likely not tripped.
First, check to see that the drive belts are on the machine and have tension on the roller for the power head.
Second, check to see that you can turn the brush on the power head by hand. If you can not, you need to remove it and clean it of any debris, paying special attention to the two end pieces that hold it in place. If possible, squirt a little WD40 on these end pieces to make sure they are loose and can be turned by hand.
Check the connections that power the motor on the power head.
Let me know if you have any trouble and I will gladly help you further. I do not charge for my assistance.

- Look for the reset button on the side of the brushbar housing - there should be a red sticker and a red button. Push it once. It's not gonna stay depressed, it's gonna pop right out - that's normal.
- Step on the red pedal on the back
- Turn the machine on with the red power button
- Press the gray button next to the red power button - this is the ON/OFF switch for the brushbar
- If it still isn't spinning, open it up and make sure nothing is blocking it and withholding it from spinning
- For further troubleshooting assistance call the Dyson helpline, they know what they're doing

Sounds like a defective switch that won't catch. Is it still under warranty? You could put something higher than, but roughly the same size as the button on it and duct tape it on until you get it replaced. If you're handy you could replace it with a toggle or rocker switch at about $2 but it's not as suave chic. If not it should be a fairly cheap repair at the dealer.
