You can tap on the f12 key and it will bring a boot menu up then you can choose which item to boot to such as the dvd. You will want to have your media in the dvd player before you tap on the f12 key. Hope this helps you.

Make sure the disc you are using is an install disc and not an upgrade disc. It sounds corny but I had the same problem when I wiped my hard drive and tried to reinstall.

SOURCE: HP a1250Ncomputer wont boot up.

OK, ONE DVD MUST be set as MASTER and ONE as SLAVE. The master MUST be on the "End" of the cable, the SLAVE, on the other. First try with ONE drive, and if you get it working, swap them out too at first, then after establishing that it works OK with just One, the MASTER, then introduce the SLAVE. Do Not forget to RE-JUMPER between swap outs.

Correct bios booting for emachines d525

to get into the settings you have to find the key, find it in the manual, popular keys are f2 or delete. there can be others. shut down the computer and restart press the f2 key several times before the computer beeps if f2 was the key , you can now change the boot mode . I like to have mine set to first dvd next usb then hard disc. then on start up it looks to boot in that order. if no dvd or usb present it boots from the hard disc.

HOW DO I FIX A EMACHINES G52W BOOT SEQUENCE AND SETUP SO I CAN GET TO THE INTERNET ?

I believe you might want to set the boot to

1 DVD (first)

2 SATA Drive (second) Maybe you didn't have this listed as 2nd.

If you have a disk in the DVD drive it will say press any key to boot from the DVD drive.

Windows will not start with a Toshiba external hard drive plugged into USB

Computer starts normally in windows with a windows that is installed on a hard disk on that copmuter. In other words - windows is installed on an internal hard disk of a computer A. If you get it out and put in a computer B it wont work.

To have the things work:
1. First should set in BIOS boot up options first boot device CD/DVD, second OTHER/USB/EXTERNAL, third HDD
2. Should boot up from a CD and install windows on an external hard disk (in your case your 3TB Toshiba external HD)
3. Set in BIOS boot up options first boot device OTHER/USB/EXTERNAL, second internal hard disk e.g. HDD0, HDD1

Can't change boot order

so that meant you changed it , then clicked save
, then powered off ,then back on then went back to the same place in bios and it is wrong , now, and you are confused
well well YOUR COIN CELL< CMOS RTC battery is dead.
end saga.
but if above was saved, ok, 2nd look and it did not boot in that order and you for got to hit the say the huge space bar
at boot time , over and over the CD or DVD can not not ever boot due to the laws of EL Torito (intel/MS and HP rules)

on my server here, it shows, hit a key to boot to DVD
or to stick usb.. clear as day but other HP PC may not prompt you and sure that is bad play.

to save the BIOS you must use the right key to do that
it tells you what to do. exiting BIOS.
but if the Battery dies, the NVRAM is now dead and can not store BIOS settings nor the the time of day (RTC)

facts. all.

Instead of wiping the harddrive, you can run recovery by pressing F9 at start up (Asus logo) if the fabric installation is present. This can also solve the dvd-issues, try that.

How can i change first boot device cd rom to dvd rom

Hi,

To change your boot device you must change the setting in you BIOS.

To do this restart your computer and press delete repeatedly.
When you are in the BIOS search for Boot Priority within the different tabs.
To set you DVD Drive as the boot device make sure it replaces the CD Drive.
Set the DVD Drive as the first priority and your Hard drive as the second boot priority.
Save the settings and exit.

This will enable you to boot from your DVD Drive if a bootable disc is present in the drive.

Let me know if this solution was helpful!

I can't format HD with XP SP3

Hi,
You have to go into bios and make the 1st boot order device your cd /dvd rom. (disable hd, other dvd's if you have them and floppy if you have one). Also you should disable boot from other devices if it's there. This will allow you to directly boot from the cd and reformat. Remember to enable HD and make this your first boot order after windows starts the first time. hank

Windows unable to complete format.

How did you format the computer, inside windows or outside?
Try this change the boot sequence from the BIOS instead of booting first to HD make your optical drive as first boot. After changing the boos sequence insert the windows vista disk to the drive then restart the computer. When it boots it will ask you to press any key to boot to CD/DVD. Keep tapping on space bar. If you notice it will say windows copying files. When copying files completed we isolated the problem dvd rom is fine and the vista installer is fine as well.
If the problem only started in or during attempting to format you HDD might causes the problem.

Acer Aspire One has Hard drive Password frozen

There should not be a password set in the BIOS unless you set it up with one. You can clear the BIOS to BRAND NEW state. Acer can guide you through this if it is under warranty. If it is not, write back and I will help you do this.

IDE and SATA do not mix unless setup properly.
I would use the SATA one as main hard drive and set the other up as an external one on USB
Try resetting the BIOS to boot from CD
on ter lower part of boot screen will tel you the key to press to access the BIOS setup
Usually one of these keys
F2 CTRL+ESC or DEL
when in BIOS check and set to boot from CD
