How can I repair my remote after water spilled on it? md #rc28t1-27

Sounds like a new remote would be cheaper than repairing it. The old one could have been dropped or even had water or coffee spilled over it.

It would be a lot simpler to get the remote. Check minidisc.org to find the one you need (most MD Sony MD Decks will do most functions with any sony MD remote) the catch is you need the exact one for stuff like this. You can also check the manual there to try and find a work around but I think you'll need the remote.

Almost any Sony MD remote is available on eBay, the parts houses still carry them but they can ask a lot for them. I recently found the exact remote for my 5CD-->MD deck for $1.99 at a resale ship, it would have been $65. at the parts house.

If it is dirt/dust etc then it won;t hurt it. If you spill a liquid on it then that is another matter. Depending on what was spilled it may be already to late to save it. Certain liquids such as coke contain acids that eat away at parts. Even if it is cleaned very quickly then the contact pads under the buttons may suffer damage and your buttons won;t work.

Basically you can disassemble to remote and clean/rinse with distilled water only. Then let dry for a few days and put it back together. Even tap water can contain things that will attack the parts inside so you need distilled water. A good bottled water will do.

9 out of 10 times the remote gets junked either from the spill or from the cleaning.

Have you remove battery from the remote immediately after wine spill? If not, your remote is gone and most likely not repairable.

What if I no longer have the remote?? Is there another way of accessing the MD or "aux"??

Unfortunatly, Logitech does not provide repairs for Harmony products.

put it in a bag of rice i know it sounds weird but it works put it a bag of rice for a day or 2

Check first for a spare on Ebay, that will be cheaper than buying a new spare, but parts for this model are difficult to find.
