What is a dmd on a mitsubishi 73" tv

Howdy Mike-d. here,
I do not know what a DMD is on a Mitsubishi 73'' TV.
I did do a little web searching and here is a couple of things I came across.

From this website: http://www.tvserviceparts.com/Mitsubishi_DMDChips.html WD73833 ALL 4719-001997 DMD Chip, DLP, 1920X1080/XHD5, 0.65"/ DC4, TYPE X NON
I have no ties to these websites.
"I researched this and it was a DMD chip that needed to be replaced."
from this website: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/home_electronics/mitsubishi.html

Hope that helps.

52 mitsubishi has small white dots of light that dont go away on most of the screen

Mitsubishi is replacing these DMD IC chips nationwide under an unannounced kind of recall for model #'s WD60C9, WD73733, WD57734, WDY657, WD73734, WD65735, WD60735, WD65C9, WD73840, WD65833, WD65733, WD73735, WD73833, WD57733, WD65734 and others. Call them @ 800-332-2119 and give them your model, serial # and date of purchase, tell them you have the white spots, they will set up a workorder with a local Mitsubishi servicer to come to your home and replace the DMD chip. Mitsubishi will supply the part (part # 276P595010) for free, but you must pay $200 in labor. BUT...if you ask for Shantell Hebert when you call Mitsubishi, and really push the issue, she will also pay half of the $200 labor fee, so you go from $400 to repair to only $100. Once that chip is replaced, the unit works great again!!

Crackling noise from mitsubishi 73833

The real clue would be if you hear the sound with the audio or volume OFF.

It is either a problem in the audio circuit or you are hearing a sound being made elsewhere in the set -----a buzz or such or even a high pitched whine.

Crackling noise on mitsubishi wd73833

I think it is safe to say that your lamp needs to be replace. The crackling that you here by the lamp is the Ballast striking, trying to turn the lamp on. It will try 3 or 4 times and then quit. Your Color Wheel is the other sound that you are hearing and is normal as well.

Mitusbishi WD73833 won't power on. Replaced the power board with one from Mitsubishi and it still won't power on. Help!!!

These tvs are known to have sensor issues. EX: door lamp sensor failure. Thermal fuse failure (above bulb)....Check all sensors on the tv and replace with new and you will be up and running again.

Lastly, always double check all connections and check the bulb ballast as well.

Thank you and best of luck!
