Did you have a auto controller?
With the switch set to AUTO, the engine may crank and start at any time without warning. Such automatic starting occurs when utility power source voltage drops below a preset pevent or during the normal exercise cycle. To prevent possible injury that might be caused by such sudden starts, always set the switch to OFF and remove the fuse before work. Ing on or around the generator or transfer switch.
SOURCE: genset does not start ,
what safety caused the alarm. if you cant restart it, it may be cause the problem that originally shut the engine down has not been fixed, it could be water level, low oil, high water temp, low fuel, over voltage, all of the above are probably run through the safeties. over volt, and water temp would probably clear its self after it sat a while. try turning off power to panel. for a couple minutes and see if it will reset, if not check water level. and oil levels
