You do not need the software to run dual monitors. WIndows 7 has this feature built in.

I haven't had to use duals monitors with Linux yet but if this doesn't work let me know and I'll run some tests as I can easily set this up at work (we use the same computers and similar cards).

the ati chip is not so good dual monitor so please use nvidia for dual monitoring

Setting up dual monitors with vista

1.both monitors work in single mode ok.

when you start the nvidia contol panel under the display heading
you have setup multiple displays. What does this say.

are you using the nvdia drivers or the cards oem drivers ?

plug one monitor in then start the computer when that monitor works ok , turn off and plug in the other ...

Switch to alternate 2 computers and dual monitors

What you probably want is a KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switch that supports dual monitors. It's a simple device that allows you to plug multiple computers into one set of monitors, keyboard, and mouse and switch between controlling them.

I don't know of any that support mixing analog and digital connections for the monitors, but using a VGA to DVI adapter for one of the monitors should solve that problem cheaply.
