All of a sudden, can't pull the knob up to engage the choke. It is like the wire inside the cable is fused. I have removed it from the mower and neither end, (the knob or the wire end that connects to the carborator) moves freely inside the outer cable. The arm that connects the cable to the carborator moves fine. Should the wire move freely inside the cable, thus allowing the knob to be pulled up engaging the choke? The mower is a Murray Ultra 46" cut 46403x8a with a Briggs & Stratton engine...Murray was baought by Briggs...
Take the cable off the mower and clean it in a pan with solvent or brake cleaner spray. you can coil it up to fit the pan while soaking. afterwards, let dry --- if you have an air compressor blow it dry to help clean and dry it --- then oil it up with a light oil or wd-40, wipe it off, stretch it out, and work the cable again before you remont it. the cable will stick if it gets too dirty and has no lubrication. may want to buy a new cable but they usually can be cleaned and lubricated.
