First, you need to deregister the Kindle from the old account.

Deregistering will retain the already downloaded books on the E-Ink devices but wipes all purchased content tied to the old account from e.g. Kindle Fire. You cannot restore books from the cloud anymore you purchased on the old account and access to the shop is blocked until the device is registered again. Other Kindle's on the same account and the account itself remain unaffected.

You can do the deregistration from the Kindle's settings menu --> Registration or alternatively from an Amazon web site:

Log in to http://kindle.amazon.com using the old credentials (email + password).

Next, select "Manage Your Kindle" from menu that opens when you hover the mouse over the "Hello, <Name>" link in the upper right corner of the page.

Click on the center tab "Your Devices" and review the list of Kindle devices and software readers tied to your account. Select the device to deregister and click on "deregister" below.

To register the Kindle to a new account, go online with the Kindle, and follow the registration procedure callable from the settings menu. Find a detailed description on

To get a password

To get your books you have to first register your Kindle to your Kindle account. You can do this using a laptop or desktop to log onto your account. Then you can register your device. Or, you can try registering your device in Settings on your device provided you are connected to WiFI or Whisperssynch aka 3G.

While connected to WiFI or Whispersynch then you have to touch *Cloud*, locate the books you want downloaded to your Kindle and touch them. They should start downloading to your device and be downloaded within minutes or less.

Deregister

Yes, as long as the account still exists. If you cancel the account in the meantime then obviously you won't be able to reregister to that account. However you will be able to register to a different account.

Instructions user guide

I have never tried this but if I understand you correctly, you have two Kindle that have been registered to two different email accounts. This should be an easy task to merge the two to one account.

1. Decide which account is the "Master account" , let's say your Kindle will be the Master account. In this case you will leave your Kindle "as is" and get your husbands Kindle
2. With you Husband's Kindle in hand you will pull down the upper status bar, select More + and My Account
3. Choose Deregister, wait, this can take up to one hour.
4. Reboot the Kindle
5. When the Kindle is back online, go back to More + and My Account. Click on Register. This time you will resister this Kindle to the same account as your Kindle.
6. When done the Kindles will be sharing the same account.

I cannot register my kindle and cannot link up to wifi. I have tried connecting it to my computer, but nothing is working. With this, I cannot load any books onto it. Can someone please help me? Thank...

Usually the Kindle comes pre-registered to the name used for purchasing it.

However, to register to a different name, open http://www.kindle.com on a PC. Log in using your existing Amazon account or create a new one, following the directions on the web page.

If your Kindle was not registered yet, you can add your device by clicking on "Register a new Kindle" and enter your serial number.

If the device is registered already, it should show up in the list displayed.
