Hi

The pc has a POST (power on self test) default that it runs before the pc can boot.

it is a hardware default setting that cannot be bypassed without connecting a keyboard or mouse to it

the CMOS settings may allow you to disable the keyboard and mouse function before the pc boots if that pc has the feature

f1 or delete etc to access it

then go through each setup setting and see if there is a disable function to disable the keyboard orhow do boot e machines 8230 with no keyboard - 24564297-m35oz4jvdfvvmght4a51n0jl-2-3.jpgages/24564297-m35oz4jvdfvvmght4a51n0jl-2-3.jpg" alt="24564297-m35oz4jvdfvvmght4a51n0jl-2-3.jpg" class="h_mi" />

My 8230 wont boot up with win 7 already instaled it says divice cant be acsesd

Please go to setup mode. Then check the boot option. The first boot up device must be drive C. After selecting it, save the changes you've made then reboot again your computer. If the problem still persist, there's a problem in installing your windows 7. Try to re-install it again.

I have a notebook hp compaq n 8230 i am getting an error message 163 time and date not set cannot booting from cd please help

You need to get a Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows XP boot disk and boot your laptop. Ignore all messages and once at dos prompt, type the word "TIME" and set the time and hit enter. Then type the word "DATE" and then set the date. (You do not need to type the commands in capital letters)

I have an Hp Pavillion a1547c and when I boot up the keyboard is unresponsive. I can use esc to get into the boot menu and f1 to enter setup but once those screens load the keyboard is no longer...

Hi,
Go into the Bios utility and enable all the USB controllers, then save the changes, exit the bios. The computer will restart, plug the keyboard into another USB port and let the computer boot up, wait about 5 minutes before trying to use the keyboard because the drivers maybe trying to install themselves.
If you get no luck you will need a standard PS/2 keyboard, connect that and boot your machine, log into your account and install the drivers for the USB keyboard.

Good luck.

Dell Dimension 3100 e10 ...usb won't work

Does the system respond to boot keys (F2, F12) when the DELL logo appears? If so the problem is with Windows drivers and probably can be resolved by reinstalling or rolling back the drivers, but how? Do you have access to another keyboard? Does the system have PS/2 ports? Do you have access to a PS/2 keyboard or adapter? If boot keys work, you could also choose F8 for Last Known Good Config (XP) or System Restore (Vista).

Have you tried different ports (front if using back or visa-versa)?
Try using just keyboard or mouse to see if one has somehow shorted. Also check the ports for any sign of damage.

Wont boot or post

Did you say that you CAN plug in a mouse or keyboard and the machine boots fine, or are you asking if you can do this? If you computer is freezing up at the BIOS screen then most likely you have a failing memory stick.

If you are familiar and comfortable doing so, try removing both sticks (if you have two) of ram. Make sure you have the battery removed and the power cord unplugged. Then try to boot up the machine without the RAM and with only the power cord plugged in. See if you get any type of message or response. Then, hold down the power button to turn the machine off again, remove the power cord, and try booting with just one stick of RAM at a time.
