do you have an owners manual.It tells you how to do it in there. The 6 bands a,b,c,d,e,f are the radios band frequencies.If you put your on c you will have cb channels.
Obviously your channel display must be working. I would assume the radio has sustain some harsh trauma to the channel selector itself possibly a drop. Remove the speaker side cover looking down on the channel selector and its pcb board check connection and between the mechanical switch and pcb.
