I have a Luxman D-105u tube CD player. The drawer won't open unless I give it a tough tap with my knuckle lol. You can hear the drawer trying to open but won't unless I give it a good tap. Help please

  • Anonymous Jul 24, 2019

I know this is a very dated thread but I have the exact same model Luxman as you have and I'm experiencing the same problem with the CD tray. Did you ever resolve it by opening it up on your own? I would like to fix it myself instead of spending $70 for someone else to do it for me.

    Thanks in advance.

There is a belt that drives the tray ejecting mechanism. Most like the belt is worn or hardened and therefore has lost its grip on the wheel that it is sitting on preventing from the tray to eject... So my guess the belt needs replacing...

It's the belt from the spindle motor to the gear. It's worn and can't grip the spindle anymore. If you elp it to start off it works. Open the unit, remove the cd tray and it's underneath at the front. You can replace with a similar size elastic band.

SOURCE: CD drawer will not open or close

Hi, The CD drawer mechanism needs a new belt. They have a motor that drives the tray mechanism, and there's a small belt that drives the main gear so that pushing the drawer in gently to close it doesn't damage anything. However, once that belt breaks/wears out, the drawer will stay in whatever position it was last in.

SOURCE: A cd is stuck in 5 cd player. Drawer won't close.

Without knowing the model number, this is pure speculation:

There are some Sony units that can easily get "out of time" in the loading mechanism. This can be caused by a broken trace in a ribbon cable or a defective sensor. Some models can get out of alignment or timing if you push the drawer rather than pushing the close button. Please update this with the model number, and I should be able to give you more details.

Thanks,
Dan

SOURCE: NAD C521 CD Player

The tray belt raises the laser to proper focal length at the end of closing the drawer. This demands more grip from the belt. If the belt is sloppy, it will slip at this point, even though the drawer is shut. Took two years of repeatedly cleaning lasers to notice this.

Old Technics CD tray refuses to open

CD players have plastic gears. The gears can be stripped if someone has pushed the tray instead of using the open/close button. If you hear grinding noises, more than likely the player is shot. Sometimes pushing eject and tapping on the tray at the same time may pop it out. I don’t think a reset will work in your case but it’s worth a try.

The cd drawer quit opening and closing- how do I get it to work

I had a cd drawer that would not open.
At first, I could tap it with my knuckles while it was trying to open.
Then eventually I had to replace it when it would not open at all.

My Luxman d-90 cd player (manufactured in 1988) doesn't have digital out therefore I can't use my DAC. I am looking for a schematic for this product better yet if there is someone out there who already did...

choondo

In regards to getting a digital output off your CD player there really is not any point in doing this. With standard CD quality you are not going to get any audio benefit from upconverting to a digital format with the player.

You would have to purchase a $50 to $100 Analog to Digital converter and then you are still limited by the audio output of the Luxman d-90 cd player.

So I would recommend that you just use your analog outputs. If you are wanting digital output for your CD player you would be better off buying a new CD Player that has digital output.

Also note unless you are wantling to play digital CDs that are in a DTS for Dolby format there is no need for digital output on a CD player.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions

Luxman LV 105 Amplifier gone dumb

Hi: If the Amp has an audio output transformer, check for bad solder connections to the pc board, This are the wires from the transformer to the PC board. Another place to look is the earphone connection plug. If the jack has a bent contact inside of it, you will have all sound cut off. Good Luck.
