Why does a does a 14 hp briggs stratton rider mower engine keep blowing fuses

model #under seat or hood?

unplug the clutch and see what happens... if it doesn't blow then you need a need clutch. if it still blows check the ignition switch and the pto switch... oh, next time include at least a model # so know what model of scag you have. multiple style electrical systems throughout the years...

i need more info where is the leak near also check oil level if its to full it will blow by to the intake

check key switch first, and fuse.

disconnect the starter and turn the ignition to see if the fuse blows, if it does not then the starter is grounded, but more then likely there is a stripped/bare wire grounding out somewhere. Hope this helped Tim

this wire should be for your charging system. shouldnt have anything to do with running.

starter overdrawing perhaps

Sounds like you are on the right path, maybe some wires on the ignition were replaced backward, and you are sending +12v directly to ground? Does it blow right away?
