Hello... I have a Acer Aspire 5315, and there is a problem with charging. The laptop does not charge. The charger is working fine on other laptops, I replaced DC socket, but nothing. It works on the battery, but does not charge. I was told by a friend that is an IT engineer that there is a fuse in the charging circuit but I don't know where it is. Is it a fuse problem, or something else?
Dear ,
You need to replace the charging pin on your laptop.. it has malfunctioned for some reason. if your charger is fine and working with other computers.. take your laptop to repair center and tell them to replace the charging slot on your laptop...
regards,
Bila
So you have removed the battery from this laptop for at least 30secs - 1minute? Not really sure about a laptop fuse? Test your DC jack for continuity - with a volt meter - outside prong and inside stem. Those will be the first few steps to finding your issue.

Does not switch on from mains.?????????????
PLEASE EXPLAIN..........
Is the laptop lights not coming on when you plug it in? If not refer to the following.
Are you sure that your power plug has not broken loose. You will have to take the laptop apart to find this out. Sometimes the solder joint will come loose. Do not take this laptop apart unless you know what you are doing. The manual can give you step by step directions sometimes. It is not easy to take it apart without breaking the little things. If you do take it apart, take pictures of every step and take notes and even draw picture so you will know where everything goes. You can touch the plug where it is soldered and re-solder the plug. Please be careful. This takes someone with good solder skills to do.

This will be one of two things, 1- a driver glitch, you will need to uninstall the drivers for the cd/dvd drive from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the drive and reinstall the drivers automatically. This will fix it if it's a driver problem. You can also try any updated driver utilities, or patches for the drive from Acer's support site. 2- the cd/dvd drive has failed and needs replaced. These are basically plug and play devices, they either work or they don't, so a majority of the time when the machine stops recognizing the drive, it's because the drive has malfunctioned. Unfortunately, these drives are considered sealed units and replacement parts aren't available.

Hello there:
try removing the battery from the computer and turning on the computer to see if the power cord works correctly if it does inspect the battery and clean the terminals on the battery and computer and put the battery back in while it is still on now you should see the battery show up on the taskbar if not right click anywhere on the desktop and go to properties and than go to than go to screensaver than look towards the bottom and you will see power click on it and you should see the options for the battery ok sorry this was so long but i needed to explain it in full

Hi,
I'm sorry to say that your initial fears are correct and the pin that the adapter connects to in the laptop is loose. This is a common problem with laptop's and can be easily dealt with.
Now I'm not going to tell you to open the laptop up and de-solder the adapter (unless you want me to).
Because this is a fiddly job and you have to order the correct adapter i recommend you take it to a reputable repair store and have them replace the adapter for you, don't let them tell you that you need a new motherboard as this is not the case at all, adapters can and do get regularly get fixed and is not that expensive.
Good luck.
