SOURCE: my hayward pool pump started making a humming
check impeller by turning shaft with pliers sounds as if its stuck do this while of and try to restart
SOURCE: we have a hayward pump and the motor keeps
The motor might be too powerful for the line it's on, (usually a pump should be on a somewhat dedicated line) no Ac's running on same breaker.
An extension cord longer then 6ft is also a suspect in not allowing the pump the draw enough power.
The pump may not be drawing enough water, overheating and tripping the breaker, or the motor might have rust on the inside causing the armature not to spin freely, and shut off. (usually motor will make a high pitch noise) while running)
SOURCE: Hello, We have had our
6 years is a good time - you must have house for your pump :)
If you are close to a pool shop - take it in and get it tested - somtimes it will just need a service.
SOURCE: When I turn on my pool pump (Hayward Super Pump),
replace the pump or have it rewound at a motor shop it will take about a week. it is bad and you cant fix it your self normally.
SOURCE: turning on my pump causes loud hum noise then
Your pump is seized or the start capacitor is bad. In rare instances, its wired improperly set to 240v and only given 120v.
To break a siezed pump free, turn off power at the breaker, remove the back cap. You will see in the center a shaft. Either its round with a small pin like punch, its able to be grabbed with a 7/16ths inch wrench or a large flat head screw driver. You need to break it free so it can spin (chlorine is an oxidizer and rusts things). If it spins freely right from the start, you need a new start capacitor, or need to check your line voltage.
