How many lines does the at&t bis-10 phone have?

It depends on how the control unit is programmed. The BIS 10 can't be used as a stand-alone phone (as in....you can't connect it directly to a telephone line).

The BIS 10 will work with the following systems:

AT&T Merlin 206
AT&T Merlin 410
AT&T Merlin 820
AT&T Merlin 820D2
AT&T Merlin 1030
AT&T Merlin 3070
AT&T Merlin II (with the proper modules installed)
AT&T Merlin Legend (with the proper modules installed)

Merlin 410 system went dead , so I unplugged it any other suggestions

You might take an electronic device and plug it into the outlet where the Merlin was plugged in. I doubt it , but it could be a power outlet failure. other then that Merlin 410's can still be purchaced on the refurbished market.

I can't turn on the ringer on my AT&T BIS-10 Merlin phone. My line blinks green when a call is incoming and I have to pick up and press the button in order to receive the call. I need the phone to...

Depends on what system you have that phone installed o.

If Merlin Legend, on the left side of the phone there is a 3 position switch. Its in the middle position now.

Slide that down
press on of your lines
Press *347

Slide the switch to the middle position.

If that doesnt work, we need to know the system you have these phones on.

BIS-10 Phone - How to change default line

If you have a "squared" system (each line assigned to a different button), just press a different line button. To change the order of the lines, slide the "T/P" switch to "P" and press the line buttons in the order you want to use them (ie: Line 4, Line 3, Line 2, Line 1).

If your lines are "pooled" you just get the next available line from the pool - no choosing which line you get.

Hope this helps.

Lines 1 & 3 won't break dialtone on Merlin 410

Unfortunately no. The merlin 410 was an early phone system that didn't have much in the way of programming.

Programming resets on Biz10

This is a very old system. Phones loose programming if power is lost.
There was no way of backing up programming on phones at those times.
And unfortunately you do have to go to each phone to program ringing scheme.

Merlin Plus. Have two extra line buttons

do you have a manual? the programming code escapes me...you need to remove the lines on that phone. it wont let you program a button over a line button, so you must first remove the "Line appearances" then you should be able to.

Let me know if you need to code for the removal of line appearances....
