It could be that the phone is delayed in ringing. Try placing a test call and see how many times it rings in the phone you are calling from before it rings on the phone. Then you can determine if the phone is delayed in ringing. If you hear ringing and the phone rings once and then it goes to voicemail then there may be a setting on your phone that is causing this.

SOURCE: voicemail set-up problem

Call Sprint service for this issue. They may not have the service turned on. Its not a function of the phone but a service provided by your plan.

SOURCE: Motorola Razr Cell phone

This is a common problem, most often fixed by calling your voicemail from another phone and checking the messages. Call your mobile, press * when the voicemail answers, and then enter your pin code. If you don't have any voicemails, leave one first, then call back from the outside line and clear them out.

SOURCE: voicemail doesn't work

I would check with your cellular provider to make sure that they kept your voicemail when you purchased the new phone.

How do I increase ring time before phone transfers to voicemail

Which phone are you using - please be specific.

Generally Go To Settings > Call Settings > Additional Settings / Call Forwarding Settings > Voice Calls > Change the always forward Settings, here it will ask you for Number of Rings Before Forwarding. Change that as per your convenience.

Motorola v3 gsm

There is no option in the phone that will allow you to set the amount of rings before it will go to voicemail. If you want it to go directly to your voicemail you can always turn off the phone or ignore the call. This would take them directly to voicemail.
