What size belt do i need two pulley 38 inch cut

Replace the blade drive belt on a Victa VRX 14.5HP 38-inch cut lawn mower with the correct size. The old belt was 77 inches by 1/2 inches, but a larger new belt may not fit. Verify the size requirements with the manual or Victa customer support, or compare to the new belt purchased. If incorrect, return and purchase the right size.

un hook front drag links from deck move tractor forward an inch or two , loop belt around pulleys , push tractor back and reinstall drag links , if belt on mover deck has broken , it's gonnabe easier to remove deck from under tractor , then take off foot guards on sides , using a 5/8 socket and b-bar move tensioner till you can slide off belt from one pulley , reverse to install new one

Easiest way is to remember flat side of belt goes onto flat pulleys and small V shape goes into V shaped pulleys.

If the belt is broken , lay it flat and measure it. Take 1/2 inch off for stretch and get a new one at that length. If you can't read the numbers on the belt and it isn't broken, mark the back of the belt and measure the belt from one side of the mark all the way around the back of the belt to the mark again. Do the stretch 1/2 in and get the new belt size that way.

Are you asking what size belt to use or are you asking what other size belt, like you want to use one a little smaller or a little larger? If that is the case, what difficulty are you having that you would need to do that? Did you put a Craftsman deck on a Poulan or something odd like that?

If you have a single idler pulley you should have a 38" deck. If the deck has two idlers, then you must have a 42"deck. You should be able to approximate by measuring. This is the "cutting" width, not overall width. Two things might have happened. You didn't get the right belt, or you haven't routed it properly. make sure the pulleys are aligned and then check for burrs or sharp steel cuts on the pulleys as for the battery check for a short or bare wire.
