Your load is out of balance.
If you have a heavy item, spread it around the tub to balance the load.
It is normal for the tub to shake during the spin cycle. The washer has a safety feature, if it is too badly out of balance it will shut itself down and sound an alarm.

My Maytag Bravos top load washer upon spin cycle shakes so bad that it shuts itself off in less than ten seconds. It's level, true level, clothes are evenly distributed and not too many?

One or more of the tub suspension rods or dampening straps could be damaged. Does the tub bounce smoothly, if you push it down and then release it? This checks the suspension rods. Other parts related to balancing the tub include the suspension pads, springs or balance rings. (The washer will usually squeal and shake badly, if the tub bearing is failing.)

The washer shuts off to avoid damage additional damage to the washer.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model number of the washer, if you need a parts diagram to show where to look for these parts. The model number may be on the machine in one of these places: on the back behind the control panel, inside the lid on the bottom right corner, or on the back of the washer on the base frame on the left.

Whirlpool washer model wslp1100d after the rinse

Hi Derek.

There are several different problems that may result in basket wobbling and machine shaking heavily during the spin cycle. Sometimes the shaking can result in spin cycle not ending, like in your case.

To find out what the problem is the washer must be taken apart and the tub removed.

A common situation is given by a defective drive hub.

At the end of this comment there is a movie showing how to reach and replace the drive hub in whirlpool top load washers. In this washer you will find a more complicate device instead of the hub shown in the movie. There is a pulsator, the balancer and other parts that must be inspected. The two assemblies are indicated respectively as part 52 and 56 in diagram nr.1 below. Here the part list: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5239648&diagram_id=26470626#d26470626

If you find a foreign object such as a cloth below the tub, then that can be cause for the shaking and wobbling.

If the parts below the tub are OK, then one of the suspensions may be broken. Suspension (damper) is indicated as part 36 in diagram 2. Here parts: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5239648&diagram_id=26470625#d26470625

My maytag washer shake a end of rinse cycle.

After the rinse cycle, the washer rapidly spins the tub to get as much water out of the clothes as it can. It works basically the same way as a salad spinner. If the weight of the clothes in the washer is not balanced, the washer will shake and maybe even jump around during the spin cycle. This is pretty normal. If all of your jeans end up on one side, and your t-shirts on the other, the jeans will hold more water, their side of the tub will be heavier, and the washer will shake a lot during the spin cycle.
If the washer is shaking too much, open it after the rinse cycle (wait for the tub to stop before reaching in) and spread the clothes out evenly in the tub. Try to balance the weight. Then close the lid/door and let it continue spinning.

Washer is shaking violently when it is time for the spin cycle

Check to see if all shipping blocks and bolts were removed. Refer to installation and setup instructions for your model.

I once moved into an apartment furnished with washer and dryer. The washer had worn holes in the vinyl flooring and a neighbor said the previous tenant made her son sit on the washer to hold it down. I investigated and found the shipping bolts were still in place. The tub, which is supposed to be able to swing, was rigidly held in place, so the entire machine danced around the room!

Kenmore washer shakes violently during spin cycle

syrny,

Not sure what you did, exactly. First, does the machine shake when spun empty...and then with water only? If so, you have probably failed to tighten something or misaligned something. Go over your work.

No shakes? Rearrange your load. You may have a pair of heavy wet jeans which is throwing the whole thing out of kilter. It only takes about a half pound of sodden clothing to do this.

I just went through kinda the same problem and when I took it completely apart I found the spindle hub was broken on 2 of the 3 supporting arms. they where just eaten up bad/corroded. I had to buy the tub/spin assembly which is the techincal name if you happen to need this part.once you pull tub house out of washer you need to split the tub and then you can see if this is the same problem I had

GE WSM2780W Stacked Washer spin cycle

With no clothing in the wash tub take the following steps:
1. remove the front cover from the wash tub
2. run a full cycle of laundry and observe the tub's behavior

Potential Solutions:
A. If the tub begins to shake wildly during a full wash cycle with no clothing in it then you will need to adjust the 3 large springs on each side of the tub until the unit is working in a more-balanced position. This is simple to do by hand. If the tub appears to be shaking too far forward, then unhook the 2 large springs in back so they are tighter. Then run a full wash cycle again with no clothing.
* note: there are smaller springs too - you don't have to adjust these to fix your issue

B. If the tub works fine with no clothing during a full wash cycle, then try to load your clothing in a more balanced fashion. For example: if your wash load is only a small kitchen or bath rug then when the unit spins it will spin off balance with a wet & heavy item on only one side of the tub.

C. If you'd like to replace the 3 large springs, I can get you the part numbers. There are specific springs for both sides of the wash tub and they are different part numbers. The full replacement of the 3 large springs can be done by hand.

thanks,
Chris I.
