Yes you can. To answer your question specifically, you would have to use the Onkyo for the input of your turntable. Then connect the line out or record out of the Onkyo, to any high level input on the Yamaha, such as DVD, CD, AUX. Kind of a waste of time and money, but yes, it can be done. You can buy a magnetic cartridge pre-amp separately. Probably will be easier.

SOURCE: Buzz coming from speakers on phono input

is the wire loose on either end? sometimes the electrical plugs can cause noise due to resistance, so trying different outlets might help too

Ditto. Double check the ground cable. If it is connected, then try a different set of RCA cables. Also check the connections on your headshell/cartridge. Make sure all 4 wires are properly secure.

Yes, signal from a turntable is much lower than that from tape/CD.

Yamaha RX-V373 AV Receiver won't accept IR.

Sounds like the IR Board has failed. Open it up and see if there are any signs of component damage. Yamaha Service Centres are excellent. Not much online about it.

How to I tell if my receiver is dead?

It sounds like it is dead, check the manual.

Be sure you have mains power to the receiver, it sounds like that failed. A loose plug or blown fuse could cause that type of problem as well. Here are a few links that may help.

Hi my new yamaha v373 amp needs a preamp to run a turntable so was going to use my previous onkyo txsv424 just wondering the best way to connect these two?

The turntable output cables go into the input of the magnetic cartridge preamp. The output ones go into an a tape in or aux on the Onkyo. I'm assuming that it doesn't have a input that says deck on it. Apart from getting some good quality interconnects between the devices it's a very simple thing to do.

No audio from my rx v373

hdmi cable does both vid and sound so you should be ok if you have used this way to connect. if you have used rca connection try using another red white yellow cable cause they are cheap and break easy.

Need manufacturer's setup code for Yamaha AV Receiver RX-V373

Using 1056B03 universal remote from Time Warner. Several codes actually will turn the unit off and allow volume control. Or..I can turn on and volume control. Can't do both. I tried to use the receiver codes in the vcr mode, but the remote rejects receiver codes (i.e. only accepts vcr codes).

It looks like one or the other, not both.

Yamaha receiver picture disappears and reappears when changing volume

I had the same problem with HDMI input to the RX-V373 from a DirecTV receiver. The RX-V373 volume display and menus on the screen are HD only, which forces the monitor to switch modes when viewing SD.

My solution was to turn off 480i and 480p signals from the DirecTV receiver, and also turn off its native output. The DirecTV receiver then upconverts SD signals to HD. Changing RX-V373 volume then doesn't affect monitor video mode.
