it like all other trimmers has a bump feeder on it. all you have to do is bump the head of the trimmer on the ground as it's running to let out more string. if the string has broken off and retracted into the head you will need to pull apart the head and let out some more string before you can continue however. it will only let the string out if its still sticking out from the hole it's supposed to be dispensed from.
You can find some string heads and string head parts for your machine at Home Depot. They have a universal type head and heads made especially for Ryobis and Homelites (I think). Otherwise, several online vendors sell parts for your machine (but you have to pay shipping).
Usually string trimmers come with line already in it. If there is no line in it take the head apart. how you do this is as you push down on the bump as you hold the bottom part of head and twist the head should come apart..to sting the trimmer some are different some you have to cut the string and wrap two strings two different ways some you use one long piece and you wrap it.... you will noticed on the head there will be little indicators that tell you which way to wrap the string.. if you have any questions please let me know..
Yes, there should be a lock hole on the base of the bump head, spin around until both holes align and stick a pin through them both and the base will be locked. Now spin the head off. The new one will come with adapters if you need them.
