SOURCE: spark plug gap

hi kathy. this is an easy one. first of all you will need a spark plug gapping tool, about a dollar at any auto parts store. Your chain saw most likely calls for PLUG TYPE: Champion CJ6 SPARK PLUG GAP: 0.025 in. (0.63 mm).

Here is the website of a short video to show you exactly how to gap the spark plug. write back if you need any more info.

SOURCE: i need to know the

You need to mix 2.6 ounces of 2-cycle oil (NOT motor oil) with one gallon of fresh gas to get a 50 to 1 mixture. Most 2-cycle oil is sold in small bottles this size and have directions on them to get the correct mixture.

Chain saw ran for a few minutes became hot with little smoke and now will not start again.

It could get hot and not start if the saw was quite dirty because it relies on air for cooling and if the fins can't get enough air around them it would heat up and not start. Another thing is if some one did not use the correct gas oil mixture it would get hot and score the cylinder lowering the compression causing it to not start.

I NEED THE SCREWDRIVER TOOL TO ADJUST THE H.-L. SCREWS ON THE CARBERATOR

Unfortunately this tool is limited to "dealers" only according to EPA regulations. You should be able to locate a dealer who will adjust the carburetor for you. Sorry.

Hi have a homelite ZR10580 chainsaw thats seems to be sending out too much chain oil but I don't see any adjustment for this?

1st. are you using the saw in a hot environment? warm chain oil will run easier than cold.
2nd. are all parts clean? remove the guard, chain and bar, clean the oil holes and contct points to reduce airlocks and allow oil to flow as it should.
3. Which oil are you using? I found Texaco Clingtex oil behaves well in all enviroments.
4. Have the oil pump checked... the seals on these saws arn't great and after a few years they can peish and allow too much oil through.
hope this helps.

What would cause the crankshaft besrings to goo out in the first silllx months of use.

Usually, it is lack of lubrication in the fuel mix, but the piston/ring(s) and cylinder wall should have been ruined long before the crankshaft bearings had failed. About the only other possibility would be an incorrectly manufactured crankshaft which is fairly unlikely. Hope this helps!

Will only run with the full choke on

Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Inspect the fuel lines for decay or other damage. If no help, then the carburetor may need service. If you just obtained this saw, take it back for warranty repair or replacement. Good luck!

Its sparking but not fireing for homelite 42 cc chainsaw. wat could it be ?

Try pouring a small amount of fuel mix into the spark lug hole and try for start. If it pops several times, then check the fuel filter, air filter, and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of the fuel lines and primer bulb. Does the primer bulb draw fuel into itself after several pumps? If still no help, go to: http://www.drystacked.com for a 12 page PDF article on Walbro brand carburetor theory and troubleshooting help. Pay particular attention to the location of the lower chamber gasket as shown in the article. Hope this helps!

Chain tension adjustor will not tighten. Is it striped?

It might be, but the chain has probably stretched past the limit. If you buy a new chain and match it up to this one, you won't believe the difference. If that is not the problem, take the chain off, take the bar off, clean out the adj screw, make sure it moves, set it back as far as you can, put the bar and chain back on, make sure you are in the drive sprocket, put the nuts on, adj the bar, tighten up the nuts, you should be set. My adj screw gave out long ago, I just pull the bar tight and go. Hope this helps.

I just received a Recon unit of the Homelite model ZR10580 chain saw. Is there a bar oiler adjustment on the model ZR10580? In my opinion the oil delivered is excessive - oil drips from the bar.

Homelite/Ryobi.com
https://www.gardnerinc.com/recons/disclaimer-lg.php - Agree; Choose “Product Line”; “Select OEM” & “Select Catalog” both to “Homelite Consumer Products”. A drop down list appears; self explanatory from here.
The numbers Homelite & Ryobi use don't match the numbers everyone posts. A careful inspection of your saw should find something that matches.
Once you find and open the IPL. If it has an oiler adjustment there will be an oiler adjustment screw listed. CW is usually less oil, make small adjustments of no more than ¼ turn. I suggest you contact them and check your Operator's Manual before making any adjustment. HTH
