Tried all the steps in the HP website to get it to print will not print a test page at all, will only grab paper a little and then it stops. Power button blinking. Have Windows 8 This worked fine in Windows Xp. Please help!

This could be one of a few things... First, Windows 8 is a completely different animal from Windows XP! Try reloading your printer driver in Windows 8. If this doesn\'t work, you need to clean the paper pickup rollers at the front of the printer (where the paper first feeds into the machine. I use a Q-tip moistened (not sopping wet) with rubbing alcohol... gently scrub the whole pickup roller and then the feed roller next to it. Check carefully (with a flashlight) for any shards of paper that might be blocking the paper path. There is also a sensor flag (small finger of plastic) sticking up that the paper must hit to let the printer know that the paper is feeding through. If you do not see the sensor flag, it is either jammed or has been broken off when a piece of paper was pulled backward out of the paper feed area. First reload the printer driver, and try to print. If it doesn\'t print, check and clean the rollers and look for the sensor flag.
Testimonial: "Thank you I tried all of what you said it it STILL will not print will not scan error paper jammed error or ink error. Every day that this thing is not working is another day were I'm not earning anything I Have to be able to scan my art work, and print out things. There is nothing jamming the printer I have looked the ink cartrages are brand new i feel that my printer is not reading things correctly and is giving these errors, because it does not have an error to go with whats wrong? Have had actual jams before it's not acting the same way, can't put my finger on it."
Have Original ink not refills. still not solved. i\'ve come to the conclusion that it\'s not compatible with windows 8 I\'ve had this printer/scanner/copter for about 11 years. :P Along with finally finding in the HP website that there are no driver updates for this computer for windows 8. So pretty much im with out one for a while *sighs* Also this is my priner this site does not have it on the list of ones to choose from. HP Deskjet 1050 J410 series it\'s around 11 years old now. This "lovely" litter only has a cuddy flap undr it to pull out any paper so pretty much theres no way to get in teh thing to relly check things. :/ all seamlessly one pieace around the sides.

This my printer I tried to get your HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer - J410
to post that but it woud not
Jessica: OK, you reloaded the printer driver and looked really carefully at the paper pick-up area as well as cleaning the pickup and feed rollers. Pull the ink cartridges and gently scrub the metal contact plate with a clean rag and a little alcohol. Look in the machine where the ink cartridges fit and you will see the metal contact plate that each cartridge contacts. Clean them also.
Sorry for the interruption... Make sure that the ink cartridges are NOT refills, but new HP cartridges. Each manufacturer uses ink cartridges that have a specific electrical current capacity, and many times, a refilled cartridge will have the wrong ink. If the incorrect ink is detected by the machine, the printing process will stop, and the sensor flag will detect the sheet of paper while the machine is stopped and give a jam message, so try working with genuine Hewlett-Packard ink cartridges and clean the ink cartridge contacts in the machine... I'll check back to try any other solutions if that doesn't work. R.
