It may be because of the workgroup setting. WINXP uses a default workgroup value of MSHOME. WIN7 uses a default of WORKGROUP. What happens then is that all computers can connect to the network and access the internet, but shared files and folders will not be seen due to the two different workgroups,
To change the workgroup in WIN 7:
Click START.
Right click on COMPUTER, choose PROPERTIES.
In the SYSTEM window, choose ADVANCED SYSTEM SETTINGS
in the SYSTEM PROPERTIES window choose the COMPUTER NAME tab.
Observe "Workgroup" name. To change, click the CHANGE button
Put the new workgroup name in the WORKGROUP block (WINXP default is MSHOME)
Click OK
Close all windows
You will need to restart PC to set the new workgroup
DHCP SERVER in Router and DHCP server in Wireless Conflicting - Set WI Fi DHCP router leases to say 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.100 and default gateway as 192.168.0.1 and on the router set the router's ip address to 192.168.0.1 make the Wi Fi router address 192,168.0.2 . Set in the router the DHCP address leases to 192.168.0.101 - 192.168.0.254 and default gateway 192.168.0.1 or deactivate one of the dhcp servers and rely on one dhcp server like the routers and then deactivate the wi fi's dhcp server.
The IP address 192.168.1.1 is normally used by Linksys broadband routers. Type 192.168.1.1 in your browser and it should connect you. Here is a link for the default usernames/password assuming that you haven't changed the defaults: http://www.routerpasswords.com/
I think resetting the router to the factory
defaults may fix the issue. Generally, after resetting to defaults, the router works fine, however, you have to setup security key etc. First,
to reset the router to factory default setting, press and hold the
reset button for few seconds (It is at the back of the router). The LEDs will then blink and the routers factory settings wouls be restored.
Please
note that after RESETTING THE ROUTER to defaults, ALL SETTINGS WILL BE
LOST AND YOU HAVE TO RECONFIGURE IT. Generally, after hard reset you
get the connectivity, however, you have to make the connection secure
etc. Please, refer the product guide/manual and make configurations as per the
details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

I do exactly as above, but cant access the NAS. I can reach it from an XP machine and from another win 7 machine, but not this win 7 machine. Whats the problem?
The BIOS may have reset to the default settings. Sounds like this was originally a workstation on a Corporate Domain Network. Access the BIOS and reset the boot order for CD first, then Hard Drive - you can even disable Network as a boot option. Power spike won't affect the Hard Drive contents, but it can reset a BIOS. Your win2000 should be intact.
I think there might be lost in the packet sending. You said the PC is still connected to the network but not able to go online. Is there any other wireless computer which is able to go online wirelessly and working fine. If yes then try to uninstall and reinstall the adapter. If not then check the router wireless settings.
