Check your water inlet valve. Check it for continuity with a multi meter it should show Ohms or a closed circuit. To test it when water is overflowing unplug the unit and see if it still overflows or continues to fill. no fill If it stops when unplugged. Then it is not a water inlet problem but an electrical signal problem going to ur water inlet valve. Possibly from the panel or board.

SOURCE: Amana washer leaking.

Have your husband disconnect the power and water lines, pull the washer out and tip it back so he can check the hose connections to the water drain pump in the bottom of the washer. That pump should have two hose connections. In older machines, it is entirely possible that a hose has either come loose or cracked. If the hoses appear fine, check the pump itself for possible cracks. If all looks well, check the hose clamps for tightness.

SOURCE: Amana washer model LW6501W2 leaks in front during fill up

It leaks Your washer can develop several types of leaks. You can track down a leak based on when it occurs:

During fill only
During drain and spin only
All the time
During fill only If the washer leaks only during the fill cycle, check these:

  • Air-gap device -The air gap is a small device found on most washers that prevents the wash water from being siphoned into the household water supply. It's located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. Often it's made of translucent plastic. If one of the air-gap components deforms or cracks, you may need to replace it.

  • The tube -There's a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak.

  • Inlet spout -Most washers have a plastic spout near the top of the main clothes tub that directs the water into the tub. If the spout cracks or breaks free of its mounting, it can cause a leak.

During drain and spin only A washer that leaks only during the spin cycle often has a leak in the main drain hose. Inspect the entire hose and correct any problem you find. Alternatively, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. This may be most visible during large loads and high water levels. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.

All the time If the washer leaks all the time, check these:

  • Hot and cold water fill hoses - Check the hot and cold water hoses from the household plumbing. If either hose is leaking, tighten it or replace it, as appropriate.

  • Main tub seal - The main tub seal is located between the transmission and the outer tub. It's the primary water seal in the outer tub for the transmission-shaft entry point. If this seal leaks, you can see the leak by opening up the machine's main access panel while the machine is full of water with a small amount of detergent in it. The leak appears at the underside of the outer tub, at or near the center. This seal is difficult to replace. You probably should call a qualified appliance repair technician.

  • Pump - If the pump leaks, you can probably spot the leak when the tub is full of water. The pump has two or more black rubber or plastic hoses attached to it and usually has a drive belt that spins the pump. If the pump is leaking, you need to replace it.

  • Outer tub - Over time, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.

Amana washer won't continuously fill the basin with water.

Laundry Washer or Dishwasher?

If it is a dishwasher, it sounds like the Flood Sensor is stopping the cycle. There is a tray between the floor and the underside of the basin. If it is a Dishwasher, you just need to find the leak and fix it.

For a Laundry washer, it is a problem with the control board and needs professional diagnosis and repair.

My Amana top load washer NTW4516FW2 gives me a blinking "rinse" light. After diagnostics, I'm getting an F8 E1 code. What should I be checking?

The F8 E1 code indicates a problem with the water coming into the washing machine for most Amana washing machines. This could indicate a problem with the inlet valve of the washer, the water hoses or your incoming water pressure. First make sure that the shut-off valves for the washer water lines are open. Close these valves and disconnect the water lines. Keep a bucket handy to catch the water in the hoses. Check the filters for debris and clean out any clogged filters. (Check both at the shut-off and the washer inlets.) Connect the hoses to the shut-off valves and check how much water flows into your bucket. (Some hoses are designed to limit flooding and restrict the flow when the hose is damaged. Replace the hoses if they are older or limiting your water flow.) Connect the hoses back to the washer.

Next do you get water flowing into the washer when you start the machine? If possible, try both a hot cycle and cold and check for different flow rates. (We had the inlet valve on a washer fail to provide full flow for hot water. Replacing the valve cured the problem.) Replace the valve, if it's not opening properly. If you are getting good water flow, you might have a problem with the water pressure/flow sensor. There could be dirt blocking air flow in the tubing to this sensor. Clean out the tubing or replace the sensor. The problem could also be with the wiring or the control board not getting the messages to and from the inlet valve or pressure sensor.

I hope this helps. The parts diagrams for the NTW4516FW2 are available from Sears Parts Direct: https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/1l5hhsznio-001268/amana-ntw4516fw2-washer-parts .

Cindy Wells
(With the faulty inlet valve, we were able to improve the water flow temporarily. We took off the hot water line and filled it with household vinegar while turning on and off the washer. This dissolved the calcium carbonate deposits inside the valve.)

Amana washer will not go through rinse cycle

WASHER WILL NOT RINSE:
If your washer doesn't go through the washer rinse cycle, the most likely cause is the water valve. What happens is the water valve will stop letting cold water into the washer; therefore, once the washer gets to rinse it will either stop or not do anything during the whole rinse cycle.
This is because when you selected your water temperature, you selected warm/cold or hot/cold. The hot water came in and you didn't notice any problems. When it got to rinse, the cold water the cold water won't come in. Therefore, the washer does nothing.
To check the water valve, first cut the water off and remove the hoses off the back of the washer. Then one at a time point the hoses inside the washer tub and turn the water back on. If you don't have good water pressure, turn the water back off and remove the strainer that should be in one end of the hose. Inspect the strainer to see if it is stopped up, clean it and reinstall it. Now repeat this test. If you have good water pressure now, reinstall hose and your problem is fixed.
If you still don't have good water pressure, the problem is in your house plumbing and you need to call a plumber. If you had good water pressure the first time you performed the test, the water valve is bad and needs replacing.
TIMER
If your washer doesn't go through the washer rinse cycle the timer may be the problem. Sometimes the timer gets stuck in the middle of the cycle or won't turn at all. If the washer runs, but the timer doesn't turn, the timer is bad and needs replacing.
Do you have anti-flood hoses leading to the machine. If you do there is probably a loose tube in the back causing a small leak. When the hoses detect that water is still flowing after a certain amount of time due to the leak it shuts down and causes the machine to turn off during the rinse/spin cycle

Hello. I have a Amana top laod washer. My washer will spin(i can hear it spin and see it shakes as it spin). My washer will not fill with water when I turn it to a washer cycle. No water will fill in this...

If you're not getting any water (hot or cold), you'll need to check voltage coming to the solenoid valve. This is the valve the hoses connect to on the back of the washer. If you're not getting voltage during the fill cycle, your timer is the most likely culprit.

Water Drains out as fast as it is filling

You have too much of the drain hose inside the drain line causing the water to siphen out as its coming in. Pull some of the drain hose out and secure the hose. There should only be about 8 inches or so of the hose inside the pipe.

Amana washer has no hot water - cold works fine

There is a solenoid control valve on all washing machines, located where the water hoses enter the machine. If you have a rubber mallet, you can whack the machine gently with the mallet. If the problem is resolved, it was just a stuck valve. If not, then you likely will need to replace the whole solenoid valve control. Typically there are controls for each water supply.
