A gasoline-powered string trimmer has cords on both sides. Most people ... In order to troubleshoot and fix a stuck cord, you have to remove the starter housing. ... Swivel each plate until it locks into position and then tighten the screw to hold it.
With the plug removed the starter should pull very easily.
When trying start did the cutter head try to spin?
If yes clutch springs may need replacement
recoil spring has slipped out of the hole.pull your starter rope out of the wind up mechanism, insert the spring latch on both ends and put back into housing. with a piece of 3/4 square stock or something the will fit mthe hole start to wind the mechanism spring up tight. with apair vishgrips lock it down so it does not move. insert your starter rope anr release the visegrips. the springwii recoil and pull the rope in.cut off excess rope. good luck
I am assuming you tried to pull start and the rope is stuck out. Just try pulling the rope while it is out, but stand on the hedge trimmer. Sometimes when this happens to me, I just pull the rope a little extra and then hang onto it when it goes back in. Alot of times, I think the rope gets caught on the outside of the retraction pulley causing a tangle.
you need to rotate the starter pulley up first to tension the spring.... then feed in your rope tie a not and let it retract the rope into the starter pulley
First, i will take that the rope is in the front. If so, you will need to remove trimmer shaft, throttle assembly, so you will be able to remove starter housing.
