SOURCE: i need a gas tank for homelite mighty lite 26ss.

No, what you really need is the "correct" sized fuel line. Do not alter the hole in any way. Here is an offering for a complete fuel line replacement "kit". I think it is Amazon.com. The sizes of line they have should fit your make and model. See the third Item listed under BLOWERS at the top of the page. Click on that and you will see the item you actually need. Reasonable price too.

On a homelite model 26 bv blower Does the gas tank filter connect to anything

The filter fits on the end of the fuel pickup line inside the gas tank. If you see the filter just rolling around in the tank it probably has hardened or damaged fuel lines. Size them up and get replacement lines online or at your local outdoor equipment retailer.

Gas tank

Homelites are great, especially the old aluminum gas tank kind like the C-55. If it leaks through the gasket you can take it apart and trace out a new paper gasket on a piece of cerial box. Make sure to wash the gas filter bob in gas and blow it out to get the film of fine sawdust off it or it will lock up with vacuume from the engine while cranking. If it cracks you can use 2 part epoxy putty stick which is made just for gas tank repairs.

I have a HOMELITE XL-12 chain saw. Web sites say it takes a mix of oil and gas. But mine has a place to put oil in. Which should I do?.

The mix of oil and gas should be a 32:1 ratio which is 4 oz. of oil to every gallon of gas. I am assuming that what you are seeing is the oil tank for the bar oil. You need to use bar and chain oil for this tank as it is what keeps the chain lubricated. Do not use two cycle oil for the tank marked oil.

I have a Homelite "Vac Attack" leaf blower model

The fuel line is replaceable by itself, you don't need a new tank. Just make sure you get the same size line or it will leak where it goes into the tank. Any local small engine repair shop should have the line. There are two lines that go into the tank, the pickup line has the filter on it. It not only filters the gas but keeps the end of the line down in the fuel.

I have a Homelite BackPacker leaf blower. It runs fine until the gas tank is about half empty. Then it sputters. While it's running, I can remove gas cap and replace and it runs fine again for a little...

Great job with the description of the symptoms. What you are describing is a classic case of vapor-lock. In other words, a vacuum is forming in the fuel tank and not allowing the fuel to flow to the carburetor.

Look at the cap, it probably has a small vent built into it. With a little compressed air, blowing from the outside in, try to clear the obstruction. This may not work, but don't worry. Just replace the fuel cap. Your local lawnmower repair shop can probably get a new cap for you. Otherwise, go to www.homelite.com click on the parts tab, enter your model number (starts with a "UT") and order a new one.

Good luck!

How do I remove the cutting head on my homelite HLT=15

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/homelite-hlt15-ut20602-string-trimmer-parts-c-18807_20299_21185.html

Here is a diagram of it. It is reverse threaded so you have to turn it like you was tightening it to loosen it. Clockwise looking at it from the bottom of the head. But there is a clutch that will let the whole thing turne. The best way is to remove the shaft from the weedeater and hold the shaft with some vice grips. Or you may be able to hold it right above the head, before the shaft tube.

Fuel Lines leak where they pass through opening into tank

i had the same problem with my trimmer. you could replace the fuel line but if you don't want to hassle with fishing it thru the hole i suggest going to homelite.com and ordering the gas tank. it only cost me $18 with shipping and came with everything (tank, lines-with fuel filter, and gas cap). all you need to do is take out the 4 bolts on back of trimmer and the 2 top bolts holding the housing together. be careful not to nick any gaskets especially the one behind the 4 bolts. this is the crankcase gasket. also don't get anything in the crankcase that will score it as this will ruin the trimmer. also there are 3 spacer gaskets that go in the holes in the fuel tank and i believe a plastic heat shield between the gas tank and the bottom of the trimmer. you will see this when you take the tank off. just be careful and be sure all the bolts get tightend up (especially the 4 on the back as this is the back side of the crankcase). it only took me 15 min to replace it and the trimmer runs great. all the above info is if you have a trimmer with the gas tank on bottom. if the tank and gas cap are on top hopefully someone else will be able to help.

good luck

Just bought a used leaf blower, homelite, gas leaks out of the gas tank, where the gas tube fits into it.

"top of the gas tank where the gas tube fits into the tank"

I assume you're describing the gas tank cap. if so, the o-ring is missing from the gas tank cap. You can find those at hardware stores.
