SOURCE: Amana NFW7200TW washer - door seal ring has detached

The ring is a clamp that keeps the rubber part, called the bellow, attached to the front panel of the washer. To reinstall hook the edge of the bellow around the lip of the opening in the front panel (the hole through which you put your laundry). Then take the clamp and seat it in the groove of the bellow behind the lip of the front panel. The spring on the clamp should pull the bellow tight to the opening of the panel.

Maybe they don't make the replacement parts anymore for your washing machine and you just might have to buy a new washing machine then.

Ways to stop boot sealer from leaking

Hello. I need the model number AND the serial number to help you accurately. If this is the front loading Neptune, be aware--there are MANY service bulletins associated with it. Depending on the model/serial number, somewhere around 19 to 25 service bulletins exist. When there is a leak in the boot(also called a bellow, the rubber part that seals against the door glass), it must be replaced. Due to vibration/movement/water during agitate and spin, almost no type of adhesive will hold securely. People have tried to patch these parts but it always ends up leaking again after awhile. NOTE: Make sure the door glass is CLEAN at the rear(the area closest to the door itself where the seal is made with the bellow). If pet hair, hardened soap residue, almost any debris gets in-between the rubber seal area and the glass, water will weep through and drizzle down the front of the washer. Pet hair and almost any fibrous material will cause a wicking action that will cause leakage. I hope I helped you!

Tub Seal

If the washer is leaking water the tub seal might have a tear or rip and is letting water leak past. The tub seal can be replaced. When the tub seal fails water gets into the tub bearings and usually causes the bearings to go bad also. It is a good idea to replace the tub bearings with the new tub seal.

Tub to Pump Hose

If the washer is leaking water the hose from the tub to the pump might be split or torn. Don't try to cut off the bad piece of hose and stretch it to fit the pump, this will put strain on the remainder of the hose and may cause a sudden and complete failure of the hose which will dump potentially hundreds or thousands of gallons of water onto the floor because the next time the washer tries to fill all of the water will end up on the floor and so the washer will never shut off the valve. Any time there is a damaged hose, replace it completely with the OEM part.

Washing Machine Fill Hose

If the washer is leaking water, check the fill hoses on the back of the washer, this is the most common place for water to leak. If the washer still has the original black rubber fill hoses replace them with stainless steel or some other, more durable hose.

Drain Hose

If the washer is leaking water check the drain hose. The most common places for the hose to spring a leak is from the connection to the pump out to the back of the washer. Another common occurrence is when the washer gets pushed too far back against the wall.

The door boot seal has become damaged and leaks water...where do I find a new seal?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Sorry, this FixYa Washer Forum does not supply service centre numbers, engineers, spares, software, installation instructions or prices; it is just made up of ordinary guys and gals, probably at home, from all over the world, with experience of addressing problems and giving guidance for free on the web ;-0)

You will either have to search in your local telephone directories OR stay on line and search for '(make) washer service' for instance or '(make) washer spares' and hope that you can find someone reasonably local.
Sorry again ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

My machine wont start ,unless i really have to slam the door real

Either the switch striker/actuator on the door is worn or the door lock/switch assembly on the right side of the door opening is faulty. It is recommended to replace both parts when one is faulty or worn. The door lock/switch assembly is part number 1094190 and costs about $55. The switch striker/actuator is part number 906446 and costs about $5.

Door Lock/Switch Replacement Procedure
  • Unplug the machine.
  • Open the machine's door.
  • Locate the retainer spring of the seal boot retaining hoop at the bottom of the door opening.
  • Stretch the retainer spring apart then remove the retaining hoop.
  • Ease the edge of the seal boot off the lip of the door opening near the door lock/switch assembly. Remove enough of the seal boot to gain access to the door lock/switch assembly behind the front panel of the washer. Be careful not to tear the seal boot. It will cause water to leak out of the machine.
  • Remove the three screws securing the door lock/switch assembly to the front panel.
  • Slightly lift the door lock/switch assembly, pull it away from the front panel then pull it out of the machine.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness and connect the new door lock/switch assembly.
  • Reinstall the new door lock/switch assembly and the seal boot in reverse order of the procedure above.

Door seal on GE Adora Washing Machine

After going through 2 different places that sent me the wrong part, I finally got the right boot seal today from Home Depot Appliances. I just gave them my model number and they overnighted the new boot seal to me, and for only $100. To call a GE repairman, it was going to cost $70 in the trip and $170 for the seal. Rip Off. We did it ourselves. Saved a lot of time and waiting.
