Motor controller board has error comunicating with console, you can try to disconnect all leads connecting to console and reseat. failing that you would need to send off board for repair as new motor controller for next gen model is 700 gbp.

SOURCE: error 1 message on older life fitness t3 treadmill

Error 1 - Start up error. This is caused because the belt was commanded to move and the opto (speed sensor on the motor) has not seen any movement or the belts movement was interrupted prior to it reaching its commanded speed. To fix Verify opto operation in Diagnostics, Motor Test
Mode, Section 2. Verify DC voltage at connector P6 pins 1 and 2. Verify that LED 4 on the Motor Controller flashes as the motor moves. Let me know if you need any more help. Fitness Fix-It

My Life Fitness treadmill needs to have the motor control board replaced. A new one is costly, where would I get a used one? We are in Ontario Canada.

if it is a classical model 9500/9500HR/9100/9100HR can take the card to a qualified technician mail, you must open the controller and change the following components: D4015L (2) 2N6507 (2) TIP110 (1) and in the latter case there to change the IRGBC40S.
if you treadmill is the Next Generation you should buy new and can find on sportsmith.com
