What is the proper way to insert sd card in camera

This is always because people buy modern SD Cards that are far too bit for older cameras. The maximum size for an SD Card is 2GB. Also you must format the card inside the camera.

8G means it's an SDHC card, not an SD. I doubt the fisher-price camera is designed for SDHC cards.

Make sure there's nothing in the slot, and you've got the card oriented properly. The i1237 works with SD and SDHC cards. The Transcend 2GB SD card should work fine.

This can be due to a corrupt configuration file in the SD card. I recommend:
1) Insert the card in the SD slot in a computer that has the slot
2) Go to "My Computer" (or "Computer" in Windows 7)
3) Right click the "SD card" icon
4)Click "Format..."
5) Press "Start"
Then you should be able to use the SD card properly with your camera.

You need to get rid of the pictures in the internal memory. If you want to save any of them, go into the menu and find "copy". You will find the option to copy them to a memory card. Then, with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"....follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then your card should work properly.

SD Door open means that the SD card Slot door is not clsed properly. open the slot remove the card & re insert the card & close the door.

Yes, any SD card will work. I can't find any documentation as to whether an SDHC card will work. These are high capacity cards but SD cards will work for sure up to 2GB. Check your manual to be sure to insert it properly. You will have to format the card in the camera before use. Just insert the card, turn the camera on, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hello. Make sure the write-protect switch on the SD card is in the UP (nearer to the contacts) position. Try the card in an SDHC capable reader on your computer first. Note that the SD card can only be inserted one way - make sure you're not putting it in upside-down! If the computer recognizes the presence of inserted card (whether it can read it or not), format it at FAT32. When finished, remove properly (icon in system tray) and insert into your D40 slot, WITH THE CAMERA OFF!! Turn on the D40, and if it now recognizes the SD card, FORMAT it again, in the camera.
