You need the remote control that goes with this DVD player to make it work it has two security devices. One you remote, you must push the power button on the remote the first time you use it. Two the security code, it is a four digit code that must be entered anytime that the device is installed into a different car. If it's code is not setup yet the code is 0000, otherwise you need to get the code from the person that installed it. There is no way to bypass the these two steps.

Panasonic CQ-C8303U. Hooked up an amplifier and it works with the radio but when i put in a cd the amp doesn't work. the receiver just plays with normal sound.

Verify your wire connections are correct. Keep in mind that if your amp is hooked up to the radios power antenna wire this is the problem. When you insert a cd the radio is designed to lower the antenna. If your amp is hooked up to the antenna wire the radio is shutting off the amp when you put in a cd Panasonic does this on most of all their units. You may have to hook your amp up to a separate switch to turn the amp off and on or hook it to your ignitions acc wire, if you hook it up to your ignitions acc the amp will stay on as long as your key is on even if you turn off the radio.
Here's a link to download the manual for your radio just copy and paste it in to your web browser and download the PDF file. You will need the reader to view it. If you don't have the reader you can download it for free at www.adobe.com

Bought a car with a panasonic fx220n cd player fitted. The cd player keeps playing after the ignition is turned of, is it wired up incorectly

yup. There are two power inputs, one unswitched so the deck can remember presets, and one switched so it will turn off when you turn off the ignition.

Either someone hooked both power inputs to 12v+ unswitched, or they've hooked the two up backwards.

There should be a red and a yellow wire on the unit. Typically Red is the switched power input, and yellow is unswitched.

No wiring diagram

the red wire is on and off, the yellow is live, black is ground, blue is amp turn on, brown is suppose to go to the e-brake. the four speakers are gray, purple, green, and white (one is all (color)(+) the other is (color) with a black line(-))

the rest should be self explanatory, also you can go to any stereo shop and get a universal radio hook up harness and just match up the colors and plug it in, very simple.
