Upright freezer, GE Model FUF21SVARWW, keeps turn off at random intervals and displays error codes L or a rotated F (rotated 180 degrees - like a 3 with the missing top line) I have pics, but not sure how to upload. The freezer only displays one character. Unplugging and replugging the freezer works, but again it will randomly shut off later and display the L or rotated F error code. Sometimes the freezer will shut off in a day, a week or even a month. Calling GE didn't help. GE support said they only had two character code errors, and had no idea what an L or F code meant. They suggested having a GE repair guy come by, but the freezer is 3 years old and we would rather just buy a new one if it is going to be several hundred dollars to repair. An appliance repair guy came by to fix something else, but he too didn't know what the freezer codes meant. It shut off during a two week vacation, and ruined a lot of food. It would be nice to be able to leave home for a weekend and not have to worry about the freezer. I appreciate any and all help.

SOURCE: FREEZER ALARM WILL NOT SHUT OFF
You can try 2 things. Unplug it for about 2-3 minutes and then replug it. It should reset itself. You can silence the alarm or muffle it. Silencing it should be hard. Disconnect it from its source. You may want to find out why it is alarming constantly. Have you called Sears and asked them?

Yes that is the correct part number.
If a new cold control does not correct the problem. Replace the compressor start relay.
SOURCE: Freezer outside walls are very hot. Not maintaining temp
Hi, The walls are getting hot because that is where the condesor coils are. The condensor coils are where the heat is disperst that is trap as the coolant pumps through the evaporator coils inside. The fact that it is holding 0 degrees is a good sign. Is this freezer in a garage?
Check the door seals to make sure no heat is getting into the freezer other then when the door is opened.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.
