Remove the belt from the motor to brush and then try. If the reset pops then the motor unit is faulty. If it doesn't pop off then the brush assembly is jambed or hard to turn, sometimes caused by threads in the roller endcaps

Beofre you go to the extent of buying a replacement canister, you can remove the top and using a straightened coat hanger type thing open that bottom lid. Then maybe you can clean the rim and possibly add some silicone spry to loosen things up. Here's how to get inside In this order: 1) Remove the canister 2) remove the three star screws at the top of the canister. It'll take a bit of pressure to pull the top up, there's a rubber seal. When you pull it up there will be a rod running down into the canister, leave it be, just pull up the top high enough to clear out any debris. 3) Use a straightened coat hanger and with a flashlight to guide you, reach down with it and push it into that hole down at the bottom center of the canister. That will pop the lid open. Clean the canister & lid rims, maybe add some silicone. At this point you might as well clean the canister too. OPTIONAL-> ***leave the bottom lid open*** and follow the rest of these steps 4) Put the top back on aligning the screws, when you lower it make sure the bottom of the rod engages with the hole at the bottom center of the canister, this is why you left the bottom lid open. Put the three star screws back in. 4) Turn the canister upside down, lid open, and keeping in mind this is thin plastic, gently tug upwards on the four fins that surround the bottom rubber seal. This part is held in by friction, so work your way around the four fins gently pulling until you work the ring they're connected to free. This will give you access to the inside of the canister. 5) remove the round perforated section by tugging upwards on it, set it aside with the fin part. 6) Take the canister to a laundry tub or large sink and holding it bottom up fill it with hot/warm water. Grasping the center section shake it vigorously and turn it upside down while shaking and a bunch of sh*t will come out. Repeat several times. 7) Dry thoroughly, you might use a hairdryer held to the center tube, but only if you can switch off the heat and use air only. Make sure its 200% dry, water will kill your machine 8) clean and replace the round perforated section 9) replace the fin section, I'd suggest pulling the round rubber part off of the fin part and setting it in place on the canister first, then follow with the plastic fin part. If you don't do it this way the rubber won't seat properly and the bottom lid won't close. 10) Close the lid, replace the canister, and staaaaaart suckin like it's brand new.

SOURCE: Dyson DC 28 Brush Bar spins < 5 secs and then red light activates

Is the machine not turning on? There may be a push button circuit breaker on this machine but I doubt it. I have no personel experience with this specific device. Are you sure you have power going to the sweeper? All guards, filters and shields are in their proper place?

Let me know

SOURCE: carpet cleaning brush noise

It's likely that one of the brush roll bearings has worn out. This is not uncommon. I think you'll find that you have to replace both the brush roll and the sole plate at the same time. Dyson sell them together as a kit.

SOURCE: dyson dc05 takes the dirt up the cyclone cone

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the bin inner is missing. If you remove the bin and cyclone assembly from the machine and then seaprate the two pieces as if you were going to empty it, you should have a coloured piece of plastic in the bottom of the clear bin with a large black rubber seal around the top. If you dont, you will need to purchase a new bin assembly via our website at www.dyson.co.uk or via our Helpline on 0800 298 0298.

Kind regards
Darran

SOURCE: dyson animal dc07 does it have a reset button?

The reset button is incorporated into the on/off switch for the brushroller which is the grey button next to the red power button. Try hitting that button separately.

How to clean 2 tier radial cyclones on dyson DC 50

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC50 has two lifetime washable filters, which we recommend washing at least once a month in normal use. Use cold water without detergent and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them in the machine.

The cyclone pack itself doesn't require any maintenance - it should never be washed or submerged as this could cause damage not covered under your Dyson guarantee. However you can remove the clear bin from the cyclone pack, then use a soft brush or dry cloth to remove any fluff or debris from the mesh shroud. The inside of the clear bin can also be wiped with a damp cloth - make sure it's completely dry before reassembling.

To remove the clear bin, press the red bin base release button to open the bin base, as if you were emptying the machine. Then with the bin base still open, press the silver catch on the rear of the cyclone pack to disengage the clear bin.

If you'd like any further guidance on correctly caring for your DC50 without causing damage, you're welcome to get in touch directly. You can call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

The shroud on my dc59 is full of dust is there any way of cleaning it

Hi Marian, it's Jack at Dyson.

It's normal for harmless static to cause fine dust particles to cling to parts of the cyclone pack after use. This won't affect performance as the airflow doesn't need to pass through this dust.

It's not possible to remove the mesh shroud, but you can clear any fluff or clinging debris from the shroud after removing the clear bin. In order to do this, press the red bin base release catch once to open the bin base. Then with the base still open, press the same red release catch firmly a second time to disengage the bin.

You can then use a dry cloth or soft brush to remove any debris from the fine mesh shroud. Please don't attempt to wash or submerge either the clear bin or the cyclone pack, as this could cause damage not covered under your Dyson warranty.

I hope this information is useful, but you're welcome to get in touch with our experts if you'd like further guidance. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How do I remove canister to clean dyson Dc24

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

To remove DC24's clear bin from the cyclone pack, first remove the clear bin and cyclone from the vacuum, and press the red bin base release trigger to open the bin base - as if you were emptying the machine. Then with the bin base still open, look at the rear of the cyclone pack for a silver catch - this catch will allow you to disengage the clear bin.

With the clear bin removed, you can use a soft brush or a dry cloth to remove any debris from the perforated shroud. Please note, the cyclone pack should never be washed or submerged in water as this can cause damage to your machine not covered under guarantee.

I hope this helps, but if you'd like any further advice on using or maintaining your DC24, please give our experts a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Vac brush not working on carpet

Hi Dawn, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC17. If the brush bar isn't rotating, it may just need to be reset - for guidance on doing this, please take a look at the video above.

The brush bar is engineered to shut off automatically if something jams it, so it's important to keep it clear of any threads or hair.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you would some like further assistance after you've given this a try, please give us a call on 1-866-693-9766 (US, or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Best wishes,

Dyson dc23 canister rug attachment loses power after about 5 seconds, push red button and restarts for less time. After 3 or 4 trys of it working for seconds it just doesn't turn on again. Reall

Hi Elizabeth, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm glad to hear you've been in touch already and we're able to resolve the issue under your machine's 5-year guarantee.

In most cases, the issue you've described will be caused by something jamming the brush bar. It can usually be resolved by clearing the brush bar of any debris, threads or hair, and checking the Motorhead for any obstructions, as shown in the video below.

If you'd like further help and advice with your machine at any point, please get in touch with us.

Best wishes,

Every 3 swipes on the floor I have to push the reset button to engage the roller brush. Is this normal and if so why?

No, it is not normal for the brushroll to stop that often. You may need to clear any thread, etc from the brushroll underneath the vacuum. Remove the screws from bottom of unit, stand unit upright, turn height adjustment dial to either side to allow hood to come off. Check the belt for any stress marks, stretching, etc. Replace the belt if necessary.

Brush spins & then trips & quits

Sounds like a clog to me. Check that the roller brush cap fittings (caps at either end of the brush roll) don't have thread in them as well as checking that the dust channel from the sole plate is completely clear.
