It won't "catch" the paper to print. It goes through all of the normal sounds, but won't print.

I can print a single piece of paper through the manual feeder slot. Printer prints great! It just won't print using the bottom tray.

Check that there are still two rubber bands around the two little rollers. One of mine fell off and got stuck inside.

SOURCE: Will not print

This usually happens when the paper tray is set to the incorrect paper size.
This printer determines what size paper is installed in it by the little "fingers" on the left side of the tray. When you adjust the paper tray, it determines how those fingers are positioned, and therefore, how the switch reads the paper size.

If the tray setting is off, even by one little click, then the machine may read the paper size as other then letter. If this happens, you send a letter size job to the printer, and it doesnt think it has letter size paper, it will tell you to put letter paper in the MPF feeder.

If the tray is definately set to letter, but the machine still thinks it does not have letter, then the tray or the switch that reads the tray is defective, but 99% of the time it is just the tray is not set correctly.

The MPF door can be open or closed 100% of the time with NO EFFECT on how the printer works.

SOURCE: Dell s2500 printer - multipurpose feeder not taking paper - never been used

I had the same problem and resorted to making sure that there were several envelopes in the tray -- and hand feeding them. I suspect we both have a pickup roller problem, which is typical of the printer, and is the source of a lot of phantom jams.

Hi it goes to print and the paper catches and goes down crookedly. What am i doing wrong i line it up straight. Am i using the wrong size paper?

I would get a can of air and blow out the whole printer. It is likely that a small piece of paper is jammed in the path and is causing the paper to mis-feed. The only other issue could be a problem with one of the path wheels but a small piece of paper is likely the problem.

My x2480 is not printing. I can hear it trying but it does not catch the paper.

  • you may have too many pieces of paper in the feeder, try taking some out and printing again
  • push the paper into the into the printer and see if it catches (WARNING: DO NOT SHOVE THE PAPER ONLY APPLY VERY LIGHT PRESSURE)

I have Paper Jam Display on my Canon Super G3 Fax phone L80 FaxScreen.

There is most likely a piece of trapped paper where you cannot see it and it is covering a jam sensor. Try to cheat the machine by turning it off and remove all the printing paper. When you turn it on look down where you see the paper normally feeds and see if you can see any rollers turning. Then, try to take a sheet of paper and feed it through were the printing paper usually goes. Open up the cover where the cartridg goes as well and you may see the trapped paper move when you feed through your piece of paper. Remove the cartridge if necessary to get a good look and see if paper is trapped near.

If its a spongy rubber piece it goes on the bottom of where the printhead travels. You match up the little square pieces to the cutouts in the frame. An index card can help you push this piece back into the machine if you push gently from the front. This piece catches ink when you print borderless, and can be left out without a problem.

Sounds like there is something like a part of a sticky address label, or a piece of other paper stuck inside.

Take a heavy piece of card stock and feed it through the paper path. Chances are, when you get the card stock all the way through, it will push out the offending object that is hung in the paper path.

Paper doesn't advance through the printer

Hi, Sounds very much like the feed rollers are worn out. If you can get to them without too much trouble you can clean them up with regular rubbing alcohol and a rag which will help the paper feed. You might also want to try unpluging the printer and trying to roll the paper feed buttons by hand and seeing if a piece of paper will feed through without catching anywhere. If it does catch somewhere, then you may very well have a small piece of paper jammed in the paper path causing the jam. Good luck.

Hp printer

Sounds like u have broken paper kicker arms (should be 3 of them that eject paper after printing). If you print a single page job...no problems. If you can find the paper kicker arm assembly the repair is relatively simple...that is if you know how to take the covers off of your machine.
