We just got a VMotion & it would turn on and then we'd put the game in and it would shut off. I have no clue whats going on.
Your smartridge is dirty, or you inserted a smartridge that was dirty and now have dirt grime or Mac n Cheese in your cartridge slot. (happens to us all, only takes a kid a split second to get grime on a smartridge, even one that's brand new!)
Clean the contacts of the smartridge with common rubbing alcohol. In very dirty circumstances where the pins are tarnished, polish them with a pencil eraser.
For the socket, if it has become dirty, do the following:
Remove Batteries, AC Adaptor or car charger cord, rechargeable battery packs first....
Invert the Vmotion or Vsmile, pocket or cyber pocket. open the slot dust cover with a finger or eraser end of a pencil, blow compressed air (dust off spray in the computer aisle) into the socket opening. this will remove loose debris. next, take a good hard paper stock business card. cut the business car to match the Smartridge edge (cut out the center and the card length to fit.) Using the mostly paper side of the business card (usually one long edge has very little printed on it), open the dus cover again and Insert and remove the business card and look at the paper edge. Is the card dirty now? continue inserting and removing until you notice the pin tarnish or foreign material collecting on the business card. Now it is clean. In a really bad case of Mac-nCheese, you could use two business cards stacked, and soak the edge in rubbing alcohol, then go back with the dry Business card method. Do not use a screwdriver, comb, brush of any kind on the socket contacts. The socket contacts are easily damaged. allow the unit to completely dry (20 minutes) then re-power the unit (without a Smartridge). power off, insert a smartridge and power on and your kids are back to playing again, until the next PB
