SOURCE: replacing the blades on a craftsman dyt 4000

Not a hard job, but you will need a couple of tools. First, you will need a wrench that fits the nut that is holding the blade on. I prefer a closed end wrench, but an open end will do. Second, you will need a blade changing tool. The brand name is called a Blade Hog. It attaches to the deck and holds the blade in place so you can turn the nut. Raise the deck as high as it will go, attach the Blade Hog, and then loosen and remove the nut. Be sure and pay attention to which side is up on the old blade and put the new one on in the same manner.

hope this helps,
c

SOURCE: craftsman DYT 4000, 24 hp 48

there is a fuse in engine compartment that might have blown causing the engine or blades not to start but what probably happened was something got caught in the blades check under the deck & see if there is & also try spinning blades by hand & see what happens

SOURCE: i need a diagram that shows how the belt goes back

Go to... http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action Enter the model number from under the seat...(should start with 917)... search, then scroll down to Subcomponent List to Mower Deck and there's your diagram. Hope that helped. Dwain

Putting devck belt on 48 inch cut craftsman DYT 4000

V part of the belt goes in the v pulleys. If the pulley is flat the back side of the belt goes against that. You don't need a diagram.

Craftmans mover blade keeps hitting ground

Is the deck too low or one side lower than the other? Level the deck side to side, front should be a little lower than back (about 1/4 inch). check tires for correct air pressure. Make sure blades are balanced.
