It's tight to turn because spider gasket is not correct size , if correct new old stock gasket cant be found then entire body of muliport valve needs to be replaced with modern equivelent
this will involve draining down water from entire filter section as glue needed to install doesnt like wet pipes too much and wont stick well leading to leaks , if your not 100%comfortable in doing this your self then a trusted pool service co needs be contacted ,plus who knows maybe they got the org gasket you need?
SOURCE: I installed a new pentair de filter and new
If the pressure is 15 psi on recirculate, and high on filter, the problem is the filter itself, or the valve plumbing. The DE filters are unusal in the fact that they are plumbed like a sand filter, NOT the cartridge filter. If you could give details as to which filter AND multiport valve you have (look on sticker for model number on valve) it would help to figure out if the problem is in the filter or valve.
SOURCE: Water still flowing out waste when filter is in filter mode.
You proberly have sand traped in handle shaft above spider gaskit.
It is best to take apart - clean - grease (pool grease) - put back together.
When backwashing (or moving handle to other postion)- let pressure build up escape before moving handle to next position.
SOURCE: I'm hearing air like sounds
Air only
gets into the lines of your equipment if it enters somewhere on the suction
side of the system. That means from the pump housing and strainer BACK to the
pool on the inlets. Once the water passes from the impeller out the discharge
of the pump it is under pressure and any leaks will result in water escaping
from the line.
While your
filter may or may not need work air is likely the result of failing gaskets or
a seal in the pump. Replace the strainer lid ring, the pump body ring and the
mechanical seal first. If there is still air look at the valve or valves in
front of the pump for controlling inlet water flow...check for leaking stems or
failing pipe joints.
