Why won't my phone system ring over the intercom system as it should?

Our phone system always rings over the intercom, as multiple people answer the phone. It was working this morning but now it only rings to the main phone.

Not sure what you mean by rings over the intercom. Do multiple phones have the lines on them and they all ring or do you put it on night service for the other phones to ring.

Testimonial: "Hi Jim, when someone calls in, there is a recording that directs them to dial an extension, press # for the directory or 0 for the operator. If 0 is dialed the system rings over teh the PA or intercom system, alerting everyone that there is a call. For some reason, one of our lines was only ringing to the main phone. I think the problem has resolved itself, as we aren't having that issue any longer. I don't know what would have caused this issue or how it was rectified. I have a limited knowledge of our phone system and am trying to become more savy! Thank you in advance for any insight you may be able to provide, as the manager that I would go to for this type of issue passed last month of cancer."

It sounds like power to the paging system was interuppted possibly a circuit breaker tripped or someone accidently unplugged the power to the paging amp. But glad it repaired itself;or

Yeah, I'm not sure because it was just 1 of the incoming lines, and the paging system worked for the other lines or for simply paging. Either way, we are back in business. Again, thank you!

Hi: I have a Panasonic KX-T7420 phone. When one of the incoming lines is ringing and I pick up the handset, it picks up the intercom and not the incoming line. Is there a way to get the thing to answer...

There are 2 things that would prevent you from being able to answer a ringing phone by picking up the handset. Your phone has to be ringing, and you need to set preferred line ringing on incoming calls.

The second part is easy. Press PROGRAM 99 and dial 22 STORE on your phone. Now when a call rings on your phone you can pick it up. If you can't, then your phone is not ringing.

Ringing is set in system programming.

Ring options

Changing ringing on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11.
At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
Next press the left hand intercom twice
The display should say system programming2.gif

Press the right hand intercom once. The display should say Centralized Programming.

Enter in the extension number that you want to program.

Press the line that you want to ring.
A solid light on the line means immediate ringing
A slow flashing light means delayed ringing (meaning the phone will wait 3 rings before starting to ring.)
A fast flashing light means no ringing.

When finished with that station press the right hand intercom and enter in the next extension to program and set ringing accordingly.

Press feature "00" to logout

My kx t7730x doesnt have a ring but its receiving calls outside.

I'm guessing this is connected to a TA series system.

There is a ringer switch on the left side of the phone. Does it ring on intercom calls with the Auto Answer button not lit?

The 2 things that control the ringer for outside calls is the ringer switch and programming. Intercom calls ringing is controlled by the switch, Auto Answer button, and programming. If the switch is set to medium or high and the phone doesn't ring, try it at another extension. If it still doesn't ring, it's broken, if it rings, then you have programming issues.

as to the automated message, Does your system have a messaging card in it? If so what kind?

ANSWERING INTERCOM

I'm out in the field and not at my Partner system, but I think you can either program a button or dial 626 on the intercom.

To program a button, press FEAT 00, the button, Intercom 626 and when that phone rings, pick up your handset and press the button.

I have a NEC ETW 16DC-2 phone that does not ring with calls

The telephone instrument you have can be used on the NEC Electra Professional Level I, and the Level II systems (and under some conditions the NEAX 2000 series). Codes for features are somewhat different based on the system. It is possible that your phone is in "Do-Not-Disturb" if other phones on your system actually ring when they are called via the intercom (on the Level I and Level II systems, initial intercom ring is a system wide setting). The cancel DND code is: Level I system: with telephone idle, press <FNC>, dial 60, press <FNC>. Level II system: with telephone idle, press <FNC>, dial 69, press <FNC>.
It is also possible that your ring volume is very low. To adjust, press <SPKR>, dial 601, then adjust volume using the up/down keys at the bottom of the phone (press <SPKR> when finished. If your system is programmed to access an outside line when you press <SPKR>, you will need to press the <INTERCOM> button first.)
If your system is set for voice intercom, people calling your phone can make it ring by dialing a "1" after your intercom number.
If you do all this and your phone still won't ring on incoming calls, let me know and we'll have to go into system programming to correct it.
