You probably still have Google Chrome on your machine. It's just the shortcut that has disappeared from your desktop.
You'll have to browse your files to create a new shortcut. Usually Chrome is installed here --> C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application
Unless of course you've chosen a different location during the install. Once you found your Chrome\Application folder you should be able to see a file called "chrome" just right click that and choose "send to" followed by "desktop" to create a new shortcut on your desktop.
Another option is to just use the shortcut from your start menu.
well..there might have been a shift of the main google chrome.exe file or the shortcut might be referring to a different location...to get back to your google chrome....
click start.
click on the search button.
type google chrome and set the location to all hard discs.
you will get the links to all the files with chrome as name in your system.
now click on chrome.exe from this list.
there you have it.....you can even right click on it and click send to desktop(create shortcut) to have your shortcut replaced by the working new one...
You can access google earth from any browser.
If you are having problems with your shortcuts, you may have the security centre virus.
Try a full scan with malwarebytes.
Try a system restore if you do not have a virus infection.
programs / accessories / system tools / system restore.
Or access system restore from F8 menu on boot up
You might want to try restoring your system (using "System Restore") to a day when you remember the application running correctly. If you cannot do this than yes you will have to uninstall/ reinstall the application. Thanks, Dana
"I've had the same problem after using CCleaner. I discovered that if I empty the cache then pages would display properly. C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxxxx\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cache I finally put a shortcut on the desktop to expedite this."
Create a new shortcut and paste the url into the location, give it a name then save the new shortcut.
The new shortcut should appear on your desktop with the icon of the website. You can then delete the old shortcut.
Unfortunately, this seems to be the only way to get the proper icon. You can click on the change icon button when you're viewing the propertis of the shortcut but the icon of the website will not be displayed.
