Since the needle fell into the needle plate, first remove the needle plate. You need to loosen and remove two screws. Then lift off the needle plate. I think you should be able to see the needle between the feed dogs. In the future, leave the old needle threaded before loosening the screw. Temporarily thread the needle and make sure that the thread tail is long. Now, insert your new needle and secure it. If you ended up with the thread wrapped around the needle, remove the thread from the needle and then correctly thread the needle. If the needle falls, you can use the thread to carefully pull the needle back up by holding the thread on both sides of the needle.
The needle plate shouldn't be hard to put back into place. Make sure that you have it aligned correctly and that the needle is fully up. When you removed the plate, you should have slid it forward slightly and then lifted the plate up. Do this in reverse: bring the plate down and level very close to where it fits over the feed dogs. Then push it forward. Next secure the two screws. See page 72 in the manual, https://www.singer.com/sites/default/files/product_manual/SINGER%207469%20and%207469Q%20Sewing%20Machine.pdf .
remove all the plates around the needle and bobbin cover
slowly turn the machine until the needle is right at the bottom
not continue turning until the needle just starts to come back up
At this point the hook of the bobbin case should be just at or close to the needle eye
The bobbin position cannot be altered as the needle is the adjustment
That is done by loosening of the clamp in the needle bar and moving the needle crank up or down to get the correct position and then re-clamping the screw
Note here--make sure that you have the correct needle length in the machine as needle lengths do vary for different applications .
search -- needle and hook timing for singer sewing machines-- to get illustrations on how to do it
The small hook that passes through the eye of the needle is bent or broken. If it is only bent it can be straightened with a small screw driver. If it is broken it will need to be replaced. Most dealers can get this part for you for about $5.00 sewman7
I'm giving you a direct link to the Manual on page 82 of which is explained the procedure of removing the needles so you can attach new ones the same way...
1.Remove the machine needle plate.
2. Remove the bobbin case.
3.Insert a new needle.
4.Turn the handwheel towards you by hand, and watch the
needle going down.It should go down all the way, and start coming Up again, WITHOUT TOUCHING ANYTHING.
