There is a hall sensor on the door and a metal latch that is spring loaded on the frame. I can push the door closed and hold it, but it will not stay that way. The door will open just enough to trip the sensor, stopping the unit. Which part is defective ? The hall sensor or the metal latch on the frame ? Thanks
DId you fix your problem? I have the same one and I really do not want to have to call a repairman for this new dishwasher!
Testimonial: "Yes. In the end, the latch had become stuck in the "locked" position. I just had to massage it and eventually it popped back down. You don't need a repairman for this BTW. Even if you need a new latch. It's very easy to replace. Just order the part and replace it. Good Luck"
It could be the latch frame and casing but if no one has recently put a crowbar in to door lock to force your door open - i would say its an eletrical fault check the sensor on the door frame and on the door and make sure they line up while the door is closed and if thats the case i would say you have a fault with the hall sensor or ghosts haha just kidding
Testimonial: "Thanks so much for the reply. I was suspecting ghosts and I'm glad I'm not loony for thinking it! I have a related question. The hall sensor that is in the door, it's job in life is to detect if the door is open or not. Correct ? Or does it do more ? The reason I ask is if I push the door closed with my hand and hold it, the unit starts. As soon as I let go of the door, the unit opens slightly and the unit stops. Which leads me to believe that the sensor is doing its job. But maybe the sensor does more then this ? Looking at the latch in the frame, it's a fairly thick piece of metal. I am having a hard time seeing in how it got bent or moved. Either way, I ordered both pieces. To put the metal latch in, I believe I have to pull the unit out. To do so, I just need to remove the two metal clips at the top and the baseboard cover ? Is there anything else I need to know before pulling it out ? Thanks again very helpful."
