Why will the door not stay closed ?

Testimonial: "Thanks so much for the reply. I was suspecting ghosts and I'm glad I'm not loony for thinking it! I have a related question. The hall sensor that is in the door, it's job in life is to detect if the door is open or not. Correct ? Or does it do more ? The reason I ask is if I push the door closed with my hand and hold it, the unit starts. As soon as I let go of the door, the unit opens slightly and the unit stops. Which leads me to believe that the sensor is doing its job. But maybe the sensor does more then this ? Looking at the latch in the frame, it's a fairly thick piece of metal. I am having a hard time seeing in how it got bent or moved. Either way, I ordered both pieces. To put the metal latch in, I believe I have to pull the unit out. To do so, I just need to remove the two metal clips at the top and the baseboard cover ? Is there anything else I need to know before pulling it out ? Thanks again very helpful."
