SOURCE: a burner knob somehow melted off and now when I

You may have a blockage in the tubes connected to your gas valve. It could be a spider web.
The burners may not be connected to the valve properly.
It could be an overfilled propane tank, and the overfill protection kicked in.
It could be a bad regulator.

When I light the burner a powerful flame comes out at the connection of the valve and the burner. I'm guessing the burner tube is rusted through. I'm not sure what parts would need to be replaced.

Is this on a Gas Grill BBQ? When you press the button and turn it to engage the igniter a long flame is supposed to come out to reach the near end of the burner. When you let go of the knob, it should vanish. If it does, no problem.

I have a 3 knob grand gourmet grill with a newer burner, I light the grill with the first knob, turn on the second knob, turn on the third knob and the flame goes out, any suggestions?

To troubleshoot & solve this problem, first be sure you have adequate gas in the tank. If that checks out OK, do the following:

1. Turn the gas tank valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank.

2. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank.

3. Open the tank valve VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow motion, slow).

4. Once the tank valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the tank first and set the burner
control knob on HIGH. Does the flame height look correct for being set on HIGH? If so, light
the remaining burners the same way. Do all the burner flames look correct? If so, you solved
the problem. Remember, to always open the tank valve Very, Very Slowly.

If that didn't solve the problem, you will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly. It runs about $30.00 at any home center or hardware store that sells grills & accessories. If you replace it, turn the tank valve ON Very, Very Slowly.

Hope this helped you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling!!

Flames coming out the front of BBQ - I have checked for spider webs inside and at the knobs - I started it again and the same thing happened. The flames are spilling out over the BBQ

I would check the burners are not blocked , or you have a laek on your bbq at one of the control knobs . Not sure now many control knbs you have try testing one at a time for leaks

Grill worked fine for almost a year but I recently used charcoal following the directions in the manual (and it worked great). However since using it (& it is long gone), if I turn grill on high,...

Kathleen, the ash and debris left from the charcoal clogged the burners and caused the flames to shoot back thru the venturi valves, which is causing the flames to reach the control knobs. For the most part. I would suspect that the control panel, the electronic ignition, control knobs, the gas manifold for the burners and the burners are now completely shot.

Now, you're at the stage of determining is it worth it, to replace all the parts (if you can find them) and repair the grill. Since you didn't mention who the manufacturer of the grill is and how long you've had it. I have no way to tell how much it's worth. But, if it were me, and the grill is at least 5 years old and it originally cost $600.00 or less, I'd seriously consider replacing the gas grill with a new one. And if you want to do some charcoal grilling, get a separate inexpensive charcoal grill and take good care of it. During the weekday evenings when you don;t have time for charcoal grill to preheat, use the gas grill. On weekends, use the charcoal grill if you like.

Hope this helped answer your question and ultimately help you make the right decision.

Flame near knob

Burners are clogged or defective and the flame is "backing up" which may have damaged your gas valves and/or ignitor. Try removing and cleaning the burners with a wire brush or if under warranty, have nexgrill replace them all.

The temp/flame on my weber grill won't get hotter

Hello,

Check the excess flow safety device, which is part if the barbeque to cylinder connection, may have activated. To reset the excess flow safety device turn all burner control knobs and the cylinder valve off.
Disconnect the regulator from the cylinder. Turn burner control knobs to high. Wait at least 1 minute . Turn burner control knobs OFF. Reconnect the regulator to the cylinder. turn cylinder valve slowly.

Flame from behind knob

no these are a one time fail valve because the reason there is a flame is the packing has came out of the valve. Most of these valves may be purchased from either westlake hardware, home depot, or wal-mart.
