that is normal operation when thermostat setting is reached it will cycle off compressor.

it depends on thermostat setting. compressor might be going off on a safety.

Hi, the only thing that could cause this to happen would be the thermostat. This is the main part that controls the roof top unit, getting its signal from the stat to come on and maintain the correct temperature. I would replace it with the same type and this will solve your problem. The only other thing that would cause any unit to cycle like this is if you had bad thermostat wiring touching together some where. I don't think this is the problem with yours though. With the stat off and it still cycles on, this tells me for sure it is the stat. Change it out and you will be good again.

If the a/c fails to continue to blow cold there could be a few problems you can look for. First once you activate the system check to see if the compressor kicks in. You will hear the compressor humming . Once the a/c quits cooling go and see if the compressor is still running. If its not running its probibly gone into thermal overload (compressor overheated). If that is the case then you need to check to see if the coils are icing up if they are icing up then the problem is with 1) air flow restriction filter dirty, coils dirty simple repairs there replace filter, clean evaporator coil with a coil cleaner that can be purchased at a home repair store cleaning the condensor coil the same. 2) system is low on freon in which case the system will need to be recharged. Also, If you have a digital thermostat replace the batteries that may also be of some help. Good Luck on repairs

Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? Is the compressor motor running? The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It is located inside the air conditioner at the center. Is it humming or making any kind of continuous noise or causing the lights to dim? If it is making a continuous noise, and your air conditioner is still not cooling at all, there may be a serious problem with one or more of these areas:

The evaporator coils on the front of the air conditioner get very cold during normal operation of the air conditioner. As the warm moist air in the room comes in contact with the cold evaporator the moisture in the air condenses out of the air and attaches to the evaporator coil. As more and more moisture condenses the water begins to drip down into the base of the air conditioner where it is evaporated to the outside of the house.... so the problem might be in ur evaporator coil.. try replacing the coil if u are an expert or else with the help of technician try to fix it..

Hi,
It sounds as if the compressor (that provides the cooling) is cutting out due to either a faulty thermostat or is itself overheating.

Obviously check the thermostat is able to move between it's minimum and maximum levels, anthat this corresponds to the compressor cutting in and out.

With maximum cooling selected, the compressor should not cut out untill the thermostat says it's cool enough. If it does, there is a fault, and you have every right to a refund or a free repair/ replacement.

The fault is usually centered around the compressor electrical components if it is not under any warranty, but it should be. Even if the store does not want to know, the manufacturer should back it for 1 year.

The Air conditioner are good only the adjustment of thermostat are the problem, select the thermostat in lower #3 you observe the thermostat will off in such time temperature reach to #3 If you full adjustment the compressor will not off.
In fan selector the compressor will autamatic off because no connection attached fan only .
