2013 ford exployer will not start ( or turn over ) battery is not dead the remote key entry quit working had to open door by hand. drove home then car would not start

Is the security light lit or flashing , located on instrument cluster ? Anti-theft system problem possibly , disables the starter . Your best bet , have it towed to a qualified repair shop or have a mobile lock smith come to where the vehicles an have a new key programmed . Nothing you can do or try to do .

2000 ford ranger it stalls when i put it in gear it a atomatic

Sounds like the torque converter clutch is not dis-engaging. (It locks up the torque converter at highway speeds for fuel efficiency.) Try unplugging the connection at the transmission, and plugging it back in. If no help, have a shop check out the torque converter clutch operation.

How to engage the 4x4

This depends on what system you have installed in your truck. If you have push button 4x4 with auto locking hubs then you would put your vehicle in neutral and press the 4x4 button. You then drive froward about 10 feet and the auto locking hubs should then be engaged.

If you do not have push button control and you have a gear shifter which controls the transfer case you would push the level in 4x4 hi or low depending on what you want (while in neutral) then drive forward about ten feet so the hubs lock. If you have manual locking hubs you need to manually engage the hubs before you put it in 4x4 mode,

Gear shift moves fine will not engage gear.

then the transmission has failed or has sticking engagement solenoid in trans pan, have the fluid and filter replaced and see if that corrects the problem
