Ok so the sound is fine on all of the other sources, The component is running from the cable box to the amp, and you can see it. just take the audio Red/Whit RCA out of the cable box, and input it to Cable/TV or whatever its labled, Red White, RCA.
If you want surround, then you will have to go Coaxial((single orange RCA) or TOS out of the cable box to the Digital input on the AMP. When you use this instead of Red White RCA, your amp will automatically switch between the different types of surround depending on what the source calls for or is encoded in.
You may have to get into the amps menu and change that amps input to Digital/Coax/TOS for the surround sound.
cant be done, the dvd wont record in surround. you could try a digital TOS, optical audio path and that may do what you need, usually the digital is an orange single input. TOS is the square one that looks like a little bulb on the end.
