Polk audio sound bar 4000 comes on no sound

1410 not 1410T answering for.. this. non Tango PC."T"
"nothing is muted" THE SOUND ICON IS X RED BAR MUTED
OR ARE YOU SAYing I HEAR NOTHING AND SEEMS MUTED
BUT IS NOT MUTED, BECAUSE THE ICON IS NOT RED BARRED.????(sorry for caps... finger slipped, lazy to change)
if not muted turn up the volume first.

this is a laptop (way make folks look it uP?)
this PC has 2 internal speakers.
we next take dollar store ear buds or headsets, with 3.5mm phone plug on the end and test the line (speaker ) out jack
the jack on desktops is green on laptops its has logo of head sets.
if that is dead, too. we know the problem is the sound drivers dead.
NO OS stated but this PC is today 12 years old
and had XP new VISTA was released 3 years later in 2007
so what OS is there? click control panel, click system icon bingo?
99% of the time, sound dies for only 1 reasons
folks up grade the OS and find sound dead.
that is because, of software upgrades gone wrong.
the maker (we are not ACER at all here) is at Acer.com
not fixya.
The maker supports xp vista and w7 only on this PC.
so answer their 1 question, what OS click that
and get the sound driver rand load it.

one is marked Audio. get that one.

Check the volume controls and sound properties. Make sure that the master volume ins not in "MUTE".

Double-click the speaker icon on your tool bar. The volume controls will appear.

Check the Sound properties:

Right-click the speaker icon > Adjust Audio Properties:
Audio tab > make sure to select the right sound device.

If sound won't work while playing videos from Youtube, it could be either of the following:

1. The volume control of the video itself is in mute or low mode;
2. The volume control of the headset or speaker is in low mode;
3. The volume control of the computer itself is in mute or low mode that can be found in the task-bar sound icon; or
4. The computer itself has no audio device installed.

Too many possibilities; can you be more specific, like when you try to play music, does the music "appear" to play, but no sound?
... or .. the music thing gives an error message like: "No sound or audio device..." or "need codec..."
Do videos play, but no sound?

If it worked before:
1. play a video and "un-mute" the sound bar.
2. Go to the "sound" icon in the [Control Panel] and change the volume setting (un-mute)

please check if the Audio cable is on the right port.also check the Volume Level weather its in Mute.Also Check if ur Speaker si working or Power to Check Weather the Speaker is Working Just use a Different Power Source like MP3 player or Ipod.if no Sound frm the Speaker then it Time to getr new Speaker.Adios

maybe the problem is on the files you play but not your device.

Check the volume setting and also check that to mute box has been unticked.
Also to test the audio connect a stereo headphone to the headphone outlet on the laptop to see if you can hear sounds.
If you don't hear any sounds - return it, it will be still under warranty.

First of all you need to check volume controls to see if it has been muted. Go to programs then accesories then entertainment then volume control.After the volume controls pop up check to see if any of the boxes are muted if not you need to reinstall drivers Here is the place to get the driver for your sound card

Check to make sure your settings arn't muted, audio driver software isn't muted, or the volume is set to low volume.
