Hotpoint NCD191 fridge freezing at back but not cooling

In some cases the board and or adaptive defrost board may be located on the back of fridge. there will be a plte covering it, as for evaporator coild they cnnot be covered in insulation but will have a plastic cover that has to be removed to get to them. u wont have a timer if u hve an adaptive defrost board. as per utr problem sounds like a defrost issue, in which case check heating element, defrost terminator, and make sure evap fan is working also, lastly check manual timer by setting it to defrost , wait 30 minutes then check to see if ithe fridge ts back on showing timer is working. if its adaptive board instead of timer you need specil tools to check it. Also check to make sure compressor stays on during cycle and not clicking isound n back? see pics

Fridge warm. Freezer frosting over. I've

Hi

Check the back wall or floor of the freezer section for frost. Check the freezer ( evaporator) fan to see if it is running. Check the condenser coils under the unit for blockage from dust. Check the condenser fan (under the unit) to see if it is running.
If you have frost in the freezer there is a problem with the defrost system and the freezer will start to warm eventually as well as the fresh food section. If that is the problem you can check the defrost terminator, defrost heater/s, and the defrost timer or adaptive defrost control If used on your unit or the main control board if so equipped. These things usually require dismantling the freezer and other areas of the refrigerator to be checked.

There can be many factors for the no cooling factor: the condenser coils could be blocked with dust, the condenser fan could be bad or stuck, the freezer fan could be stuck or bed, the freezer coils could be blocked with frost because the self-defrost system is not working or the compressor is not running because of a bad relay etc.

Fridge not cold but freezer is

You most likely have a defrost problem. Put the unit into defrost. Unit uses an Adaptive Defrost Control

to put this adaptive defrost style of fridge into defrost, short with a small screwdriver between L1 and test on the adaptive defrost board, wait 3 seconds and you should hear a "click" noise from the relay and the fridge will shut off and go through a defrost cycle.

Our model is freezer on bottom...model 596.P66032 and the freezer is frosting up and our top regridgerator is not cold

Hi, these are the possible cause of the problem, you have to check one after the other to proffer the solution.

  • Vents between fridge and freezer sections are clogged with ice. Warranty guy told me to unplug 24 hours, replug and everything should work out.
  • Fautly thermostat.
  • Clogged/dirty evaporator coils (underneath in newer models, on back in older models).
  • Bad "Adaptive Defrost Control Board", Google it, it's an easy fix, about $35 on ebay, just make sure you

Coils frosting up

Every 8 to 12 hours unless you are on an adaptive defrost system. Then it is based on compressor run time.

Your system is on adaptive defrost control.
This means your defrost is based on door openings not time.

Coil is Freezing Up

MWKT, did the service tech replace the adaptive defrost board? By your post it sounds like a defrost problem. Check out the pic, this is the adaptive defrost board. I find that the heater and bi-metal usually don't fail on these models and the board is the culprit. Catriver..post back
