Please use plumbers white tape wrapped in a clockwise diection. Tighten and let us know Geraldine. Thank you and send us a picture if you can. Best of luck leave feedback
No tape is needed. As a matter of fact, taping the threads will make it harder for the swivel nuts on either end of your hose to tighten down and seal on the black washers that are supposed to be inside those nuts. It's exactly the same as a garden hose connection. No tape required.
I understand that the white vac breaker end should be connected to the valve not the hand shower. FYI a little leak from this connection when the water is switched off is normal.
If the problem is solely because of the rubber washer with screen you can buy any cheap replica hose and use the washer that comes with it. If the issue goes away you are done. If not, switch heads and see if the issue follows the head. If it does then there would be a crack in the head at the connection. If neither solves the issue then you must buy a new hose.
If Leaking from the hose connection you can replace the washer, which you can get at any plumbing/hardware store. If leaking around the head area depending on the make and model, most always in the cheaper ones you just have to replace the whole head. Thank You for using FIXYA, good luck. Jeff
