This is usually located on the light engine if you go to the link below and zoom in on the picture you can see it right above the ballast. It will be a small circle about the size of a quarter with a small board on top.

SOURCE: Samsung 46" DLP

Did you order an ORIGINAL REPLACEMENT LAMP? There's lots of guys out there claiming to sell original lamps but there really not the original. For Samsung TVs (The majority of them) use Philips branded lamps. Check and make sure you lamp is a Philips lamp. Check out FixYourDLP blog for more information as there's lots o interesting reading there

SOURCE: Samsung DLP TV, no picture, has sound

Try replacing the ballast next. Its the small circuit board directly underneath the lamp housing. You can access it through the lamp door. If the ballast is overheating or has a leaking capacitor, the tv won't stay lit for more than a minute or two.

SOURCE: My Samsung 50" DLP HDTV keeps humming when the DLP lamp comes on.

Hi, you have one of two problems, either the color wheel is going or one of the cooling fans are going, the color wheels are a very common problem in samsung dlp`s, sorry I can`t nail it to a specific part but I`d bet it`s the color wheel as they are notorious for failing in samsungs, video-tek

Samsung hlp6163w dlp tv not working, new lamp, new ballast, still three blinking lights

If color wheel does not run lamp will not fire----with lamp removed have you looked at the wheel----if not running it will cause almost instant shutdown of lamp and the set.

If the DMD board is bad time for a new set as it is well over 500 .

My screen went black but I can still hear everything I removed the back panel and the lamp does come on but still no picture

Hello
If there is lamp ON and there is no picture at all, the DLP drive IC on the main board has damaged. Normally, damage to this IC will also couse to DLP [Digital Light Processor] also may get damaged. A thorough check to your Tv is needed. As it is DLP based one, proper care should be taken to repair this set. If DLP drive has damaged, it will be best o repalce the porcessor board as card basis. Anyway, keep in mind that the circuit for this tV is very complicated, such that even an expereinced service technician will also take time to pinpoint the exact fault point. A very high quality multimeter is needed to measure the voltages at the DLP board. Moreover experience is a must to do work with this TV. As far as lamp il ON, there is no fault to its power supply board. The fault lied in the main board itself. If you are aware in electronics, inform me. I'll assist you firther. Otherwise get this TV repaired by any experienced service parsonal or by the authorised service center for Samsung at your town. Authorised service center will have all sophisticated testing equipements ot do this service and it will be perfect in all respect. OK

While tv is on, at times screen just blacks out ...then comes on again.....audio remains but picture fades in and out....often

Replace lamp in tv because symptom shows lamp is near to end of its working hours life and causing that problem.
If lamp has not been replaced in tv in last 2-3 years, its time to replace it to solve the issue.
Lamp replacement procedure is easy and written in user manual.
Thanks.

My TV turns off by itself. It is a Samsung HlP6163W. Service Model HLP6163WX/XAA. The two green lights flash at the same time. I think it is overheating the bulb. How do I fix it.

Lamps don't really last very long typically 1 to 3 years depending. You may just need to replace the lamp. A burner gap of a lamp expands as the lamp warms up. If the gap is too large due to age (normal usage) the lamp will fail to light or shut down once the expansion occurs. The solutions to either problem is to replace the lamp.

I have a KDP-57XBR2 that will not light up or turn on

Replacing the dlp lamp is pretty easy actually. Many vendors come with instructions when you buy the lamp. not to mention there are many tutorials online that can show you how to do it. I suggest buying the lamp from DLP Lamps.com, good customer service and each order even comes with rubber gloves!
