SOURCE: my printer needs to have the waste ink reset how do I do this

You can try this....

  1. Turn off Canon S300, S400, S9000 Printers
  2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
  3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
  4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
  5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
  6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
  7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
  8. Your Canon S300, S400, S9000 Printers should respond as normal.
But this happens because the waste tank is full. You need to locate it and use a paper towel to absorb the waste ink. Whenever the printer cleans itself ( when a new cartridge is installed, for example) some ink is cycled into this chamber. So if you reset and it is full, overflow may occur.....

SOURCE: MP760 - how to disassemble? (waste ink absorber almost full)

You really don't have to disassemble it. What would be helpful tho is some sort of long needle-nose forceps. Tho I bet you could get by with a pointy chop-stick in a pinch. There are two waste-ink absorbers on the right, and one spongy thing on the left. With the 'hood' open, allowing you access to the cartridges, you should be able to see the pads. Get a Petzl light on your forehead, you'll need a lot of light! The sponge on the left is covered by a small clear plastic trough that channels the ink into the sponge below. With enough poking and prodding you should be able to get all these out, rinse with water, dry with a hair dryer, blot out the pad areas with a kleenex, and pop them back in. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Where can I buy the waste ink absorber pads for both printers?

Hi
The waste ink are in the inside of your printer you need to get at it to clean out, but after this you got to reset it after you cleaned it or it will still not work, you may not have to get inside to clean it try this first to reset it.
Reset CANON PIXMA IP5000 printer To reset the counter or to find out about it’s reading you have to use the service mode.
Turn off the printer, push the resume button and keep on pushing.
Press the power button and keep on pushing. Now let go off the resume button,
but not the power button. Push the resume button twice, then let go off all buttons.
You are now in service mode.

To leave the service mode, give the power button one push.

Push the resume buttons once, after that the power button once.
The first information page appears.
Push resume twice, then power once: You get the second page.

Newer PIXMA-printers print the first page as a test for the nozzles.
The second page contains a lot of information.

Our advice: Print the second page before and after reset of the waste ink counter.
Only then can you be sure that the reset was a success.

To reset the waste ink counter right now, push resume four times and after that power once.

Important: Before starting with normal printing again, switch off the printer.
That gets you out of service mode.

Then switch on the printer again and print, as you like

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Locating the position of the ink absorber on canon mp980

Unplug the printer so that the cartridges will remain in their position. 2 Locate the waste ink absorbers in their black rubber frame. They will likely be on the right side of your printer, and will be located underneath the area where the ink cartridges rest when the printer is in standby mode
tip

Hello worldvet, the cleaning of the waste ink absorber in the W7200 from Canon...

Hello,

Things you will need.
Needle nose pliers.
Paper towels
97% rubbing alcohol
Plastic gloves.
Flashlight
Disposable waste container, lined with plastic.
Disposable plastic tray about 6x9 or thereabouts.
Plenty of ventilation, outside if need be.

a. With the printer on, open this lid as if to change cartridges.

b. Turn Printer off. Unplug the printer. Unattach the communication cable. You will be moving it to a work area with excellent ventilation, such as outside.

c. At the far right where the the cartridges normally park themselves when not printing you will see a platform with rectangular compartments. When the cartridges park, this platform rises, seals off the nozzle area and captures any leaking ink, which till happens today.

d. Examine the platform with your flashlight and you will see what looks like sponges in the compartments. This material with holes in it, like a sponge, is plastic.Put on your gloves.

e. Place a paper towel folded over on itself underneath this platform as best you can to catch any spilling ink.

f. Use paper towels soaked in alcohol slightly and your needle nose pliers to push
the paper towel into each compartment, gently at first, until the majority of ink is
removed.

g. This will take quite a long time and plenty of paper towels and patience. So be
patient and ready for the long haul. Avoid smoking and the fumes.

h. At some point the sponge material, itself, may become dislodged and loose.

When you witness this, go ahead and remove it carefully using your needle nose
pliers and place it on some paper towels placed inside your disposable plastic tray.

i When you have one or both, if needed or more sponges removed and in the tray,
pour alcohol over these until the ink runs pretty thin. Leave to everything to dry.

i. Use a paper towel damp with alcohol and your pliers to clean out the compartment and its sides as best you can.

j. When you have completed these tasks allow the compartments and sponges to dry.

k. You are ready to reassemble the sponges into the compartments. Do so now.

l. Nearly done; take a towel wet with alcohol and hold it very gently against the bottom of the ink cartridge until ink flows freely onto the paper towel. If its stubborn, knock

the cartridge gently but sharply against a hard surface with the alcohol soaked towel held against the nozzle area.

k. Re insert the cartridges now.

l. Return the printer to its working location, attach power, attache the comm cable and with the lid closed apply power.

m. Run your printer through its normal setup routine, deep clean the print heads, run a nozzle check and finally do a print head alignment.

m. Your Printer is now ready to be used again.

Thank you,
Worldvet

Printer says"waste ink near full"

The waste ink is a set of sponges inside the ink jet that absorb ink during the printhead cleaning.
For now you can keep printing by pressing and holding the printer's On/Off button for one second. Then wait 10 seconds and press the On/Off button again. Wait until the printer finishes cycling before trying to print again. See Canon's support page for details: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/multipass_series/multipass_mp700#ServiceAndSupport . Search for Waste Ink Full.

When the waste ink tank is full, then you will not be able to print until the unit is serviced. Canon will service this for you. (Free except for shipping if the printer is under warranty, standard $$ otherwise) However under normal use, the waste ink full counter should be reached its limit near the expected end of life of the printer. Additional failures may occur soon.

This is a messy job and may be a lot more work than you want to do. Have plenty of newspaper to absorb the ink if you try this. You need to disassemble the printer to reach them. One set is under the area where the printhead sits when the printer is idle. The other is further down in the center. You will need to remove a few small screws to access the bottom set. Once you get them out, blot off most of the ink and then run under water until the ink is completely out of the pads. Blot the areas where the pads sit of the excess ink as well. Then dry the pads (you can use a blow dryer to speed this step). Then reassemble the printer. (Alternatively, order replacement pads from Canon)
See http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/45693 for additional comments from others who have tried this.

Next you can reset the counter. (Do not do this reset before cleaning or replacing the ink pads; waste ink will smear everywhere.)

Resetting the Waste Ink Volume Counter
1) Enter SERVICE MODE.---
By pressing [Menu] then [Copy] then [#]
2) Select TEST MODE. (using + or - keys)
3) Press the [OK] key.
3) Press the [8] key. (TEST MODE)
4) Press the [3] key.
5) Press the [0] key. (INK COUNT).
6) Press the [OK] key.
7) Press the [Stop/Reset] key
9) Press the [ON/OFF]

I hope this helps.

Sign showing Waste Ink Absorber is almost full. What should I do?

It means that your well used printer has reached the point that it needs maintenance: your printer waste ink pads and reservoir need to be removed and cleaned/replaced AND the internal counter reset.

It is 'officially' recommneded that you take your printer to Canon prnter service centre but I think that buying a new cheap printer would be a cheaper option!

You an also try to maintain and fix the problem your printer yourself: resetting the counter is 'relatively' simple (by going to the Service menu) BUT YOU MUST clean the waste ink pads and reservoir or RISK A MAJOR INK OVEFLOW DISASTER.

If you want to do it yourself, just Google for 'MP150 Waste ink counter' ....

Hope it helps!

Spillbläck full? What to do

It means that the pad that absorbs the ink when the heads are cleaned is full and if you use it more it will spill the ink over your desk. The official way to deal with that is to take the printer to a dealer and they will clean the absorbing pad and reset the warning.
You can do both yourself:
1 - to clean the ink pad: remove the cartridges and unplug the combo - the carousel should remain in the middle, leaving the pad in the right side visible; take the printer to your sink and pour water over it thru a pipe (try not to splash it everywhere) until the pad becomes white and the water that flows out colourless; allow it to dry thoroughly (at least 2 days in a hot environment).
2 - Reset the Waste Ink Volume Counter
1) Press Menu + Copy + # to enter SERVICE MODE.
2) Select TEST MODE.
3) Select 8 - PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.
4) Select 3 - EEPROM CLEAR.
5) Select 0 - INK COUNT.
6) Press the OK key.
7) Press the Stop/Reset key (returning to the state of 3) and then press the ON/OFF key.

Canon MP980 prints horizontal pink lines across

try to change the color ink. horizontal banding (the pink or other color lines appearing means horizontal banding) when there is a problem on one of the heating element of the printer head. since almost all canon printers have head built in the inks, replacing the faulty ink will solve the problem. if not then the controller of printhead on the carriage and mainboard needs to be checked.

What is waste ink obserber? How it will be replaced?

waste ink pad absorber is like a waste tank made of absorbent pads, in here the waste ink is absorbed. In time this waste ink pad will be saturated or full. When it happens the printer will suddenly stop working. The printer needs to be reset to function again and the waste ink pad replaced to prevent flooding of waste ink inside the printer. The waste ink pad is replaced by disassembling the printer.

Need to empty the waste ink reservoir on a Canon i350.

The waste ink on a Canon is a set of pads covering the whole bottom of the printer case. They only cost around $10.00 but you need a shop to replace them and reset the waste ink counter.

Waste ink absorber

You'll always find the wast ink absorber under the printer head after printer head prints and rest, there is a rubber type clip which cleans the head and the ink drips down on the cushion absorber. Disassemble the printer and remove the cushion than dip in the bucket of water until ink dissolves out of the cushion and wash under running tap until clean then dry and finish, put back the item and assemble the printer.
