SOURCE: cant get the bottom lid of dyson dc7 dirt bin to open

      Hi there,

I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty opening your clear bin. The mechanism that releases the bin base is actually part of your cyclone assembly. When you pull the trigger, a small clip at the bottom of your cyclone releases the bin base. If this clip is missing or broken, part replacement may be needed to resolve the issue.

You can call us directly to order the the cyclone assembly at 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1-866-693-9766 (US). The part is also available on our website.

      Best wishes,

      Jessica

Release button to empty cylinder wont work cant get it off manually

Hello, the canister empty function works by pulling a long plastic rod that moves the catch on the bottom access door. It sounds like either the puller is stuck or that the rod may be broken. If the puller does move upward when pulled, then the later in most likely. You can check by removing the Torque screws and pulling the top section off very gently, because the canister really needs to be opened and removed first, do this outside to avoid a dirt spill in the house, either way I would look for a used canister from another machine, which is really a much cheaper and less dirty option.

How do I open Dyson DC7 to clean filter

The only filter you can clean is in the compartment beside the dust bin, push in on the release catch to pull out the filter holder. This filter should be replaced occasionally. There is an exhaust filter under the cover the dust bin sits on. This filter should also be replaced occasionally.

On the DC07, the entire cyclone assembly must be removed to empty the dust, debris, etc. collected when vacuuming. On the top of the cyclone is a "trigger" that you lift with your finger to release the...

Beofre you go to the extent of buying a replacement canister, you can remove the top and using a straightened coat hanger type thing open that bottom lid. Then maybe you can clean the rim and possibly add some silicone spry to loosen things up. Here's how to get inside In this order: 1) Remove the canister 2) remove the three star screws at the top of the canister. It'll take a bit of pressure to pull the top up, there's a rubber seal. When you pull it up there will be a rod running down into the canister, leave it be, just pull up the top high enough to clear out any debris. 3) Use a straightened coat hanger and with a flashlight to guide you, reach down with it and push it into that hole down at the bottom center of the canister. That will pop the lid open. Clean the canister & lid rims, maybe add some silicone. At this point you might as well clean the canister too. OPTIONAL-> ***leave the bottom lid open*** and follow the rest of these steps 4) Put the top back on aligning the screws, when you lower it make sure the bottom of the rod engages with the hole at the bottom center of the canister, this is why you left the bottom lid open. Put the three star screws back in. 4) Turn the canister upside down, lid open, and keeping in mind this is thin plastic, gently tug upwards on the four fins that surround the bottom rubber seal. This part is held in by friction, so work your way around the four fins gently pulling until you work the ring they're connected to free. This will give you access to the inside of the canister. 5) remove the round perforated section by tugging upwards on it, set it aside with the fin part. 6) Take the canister to a laundry tub or large sink and holding it bottom up fill it with hot/warm water. Grasping the center section shake it vigorously and turn it upside down while shaking and a bunch of sh*t will come out. Repeat several times. 7) Dry thoroughly, you might use a hairdryer held to the center tube, but only if you can switch off the heat and use air only. Make sure its 200% dry, water will kill your machine 8) clean and replace the round perforated section 9) replace the fin section, I'd suggest pulling the round rubber part off of the fin part and setting it in place on the canister first, then follow with the plastic fin part. If you don't do it this way the rubber won't seat properly and the bottom lid won't close. 10) Close the lid, replace the canister, and staaaaaart suckin like it's brand new.

      HOW DO I EMPY

Remove the canister/dirt bin by pressing the button above the handle where it says Dyson. Next push the red or gray (depends on your model) trigger down whilst holding the canister over a trashcan. The bin door will open and release the dirt.

Dyson DC07 Clear Bin Flap will not release

I just received my replacement root cyclone in the mail today after waiting in the back-ordered status for three months. I positioned a butter knife in between the rubber gasket on the bottom flap lid and the bottom rim of the clear bin at the farthest point from the hinge and slowly and gently wiggled the knife between until the bottom flap just fell open. I examined the rubber gasket and it survived without injury and the bottom flap seals without any gaps...good luck

Bottom of dirt container doesn't stay closed

The catch/latch that is on the bottom of the bin button release has likely broken.
If you take out the canister (as when you are dumping the bin), and flip it upside down and then squeeze the bin release button, you will see that it moves a rod inside the cyclone assembly.  At the end of this rod is a plastic (plastic.. redundant, as the entire Dyson is practically plastic) latch that catches onto the bin's lid and locks it in place.  A broken latch means it doesn't lock the lid in.
What you need is a replacement latch.  Note that the "Bin Release Button + Rod assembly" that are sometimes sold on ebay do *not* contain the latch at the end of the rod.  Also the bottom bin assembly does not contain the required parts.
The cyclone assembly should have the full bin release rod + latch, so if you can't find the latch, then a new cyclone assembly would work also (but will cost more, obviously).
